Does Fallout 76 really have a market system?

The last day of the meat week, I bought 2 plush plans at 460 caps. Am I losing money?
I have never understood the meaning of player sales. I just know that we can sell at a high price, but there is no market reference price in Fallout 76, and there is no market system. So is the price I sell at a profit?

There is a website somewhere that tracks what things HAVE sold for in the past, and guesstimates its 'value' (and there are players who steadfastly feel these are the prices one must adhere to..) so .. i guess yes? in some really weird way?

But not really so much no, items are worth only what others want to pay,and how long u want to 'store' them while u wait for a buyer.

I also feel that there is no market system, these are all random events and luck, so if no one buys in 7 days, I will exchange them for credit.

There is one reference point - and that is the game's "suggested" price for things.
However, everyone just do what they want.
Both when buying and when selling.

If you're looking to buy:
I've seen people setting ridiculous prices for things (like X10 the game recommended price), but then occasionally a different person will sell the same much much cheaper.
So no need to overpay really - just be a little patient.

If you're looking to sell:
People don't really like to pay high prices.
Even if you try to sell at game's recommended prices - people mostly won't buy it.
Selling plans - I usually prices them 33% of the recommended price. And it still takes time until they sell. (mostly weapons, weapon mods, armor and armor mods)
Bullets or scrap - the usual price is 1 cap per item. Unless it's something really rare - like flux for example.
Drugs - you usually need to sell for 5-6 caps per item to sell (unless it's mutation sirums)
Food - People don't like to buy, because it deteriorates over time. So you would need to sell it really cheap, to be able to sell before it spoils (the reduce spoil speed card only works if the food is on your person).
legendary weapons/armor - you can price 200-500 caps (depending on number of stars) if you want to sell fast. Or 500-2000 caps if you're patient, and now what legendary stats people are looking for.
I've seen people try to sell for more (like 5000 or even 25000 caps), but I highly doubt anyone buys from them.
People that have 25,000 caps, are high enough level to have their own version of same weapons. So that's just greed combined with a waste of time...

Indeed, if want to sell quickly, should have a competitive price.

But I think it is profitable no matter what the price is, because we don’t spend any money to get it. For example, during the meat week, I just picked up a grass and threw it into the box to get a reward.

I'm not shocked with this system people are bumbling around hoping to understand how any of this works

Yes, people will switch back and forth between servers to find what interests them.

Don´t pay too much. LIke the peppershaker plan. I have seen it for 10K even 20K. If i don´t need them for trading after fastnacht is over i will sell them for 500-1K depending on how close i am to 29K for my aristocrat leggies. WIth a bit of patience you will mosl likely find what you want really cheap.

And then there will be a point where you constantly are on the max cap for bottle caps where it really doesn´t matter if someone charges 20K for something as you have no use for caps anymore anyways. (Unless you play aristocrat) Selling for high prices is also useless then. I could sell the peppershaker plan for 5K or 10K but chances are i won´t get the money anyways as i am always near the limit usually.

Personally money is pretty easy to make in game so I list the common plans you find for 1 cap each to help out low level players, event plans for 499-999 caps and things like the fixer plan for 4000 caps.

Usually I don't bother listing anything over a 1,000 caps and I still do quite well selling.

WOW that's great bro, I learned a lot, thanks for the advice. This way I can take care of new players and sell my items, win-win. I won't worry about the price anymore.

Good idea bro, but luckily I'm only level 120, I need more caps to buy player plans to decorate my camp.

Thank you very much, I learned a lot.
A side note: rare plans / outfits / god-roll weapons usually are not for sale in caps then trade and trade only.

I'm in many trade groups on FB and that is for me PERSONALLY the place to go if you want to trade a very rare item for thing you want.

My humble advice is: be careful with trading caus there are scammers all around us. When you trade some rare items? Do the following: have a good friend invited and RECORD every single trade you do.

Unless you bought something to resell it, 1 cap is profit. I don't buy just to resell. Everything I sell is stuff I picked up for free, so anything I get from it is profit. I guess the only exception is if I sell it for less than I can get from selling to NPC vendors.

I wouldn't expect to crank up prices and actually sell much. I so often see people complaining that nobody buys anything. Don't charge 5k, 10k, or 20k for everything and maybe people will buy stuff.

Yard sale simulator. One yard sale doesn't know what the others are selling and for what, so price as they feel.

Haggle at point of sale if available (it probably isn't...).

No.
It had a Comunity drivin Market Discord, but my last information where that ether the Owner all ♥♥♥♥♥♥ them over somehow, or a hacker gained ownership over the Discord. Not sure if they recovered, but i used that market quite alot back in the day.

WOW bro, don't let yourself get caught up in it, we play games for entertainment, if there are scammers or something like that we don't have to interact with them.
