A question about lockpicking on items camps
I had locked my camp machines at level 3 and I thought that when other player lockpicks your camp item, it auto lock again at level 3 but no, it stays open.

Then my question is : if i have to watch every machine to re-lock them, maybe the best option is to share my resources with everyone?

I have decided a free for all for a time, if i see abuse then i will lock my items again.

The best part of free for all is more visitors, more posibilities of sales.

I have everything open, sure sometimes a device is empty but i never had a case where someone took all from everything.

Locking doesn't protect your stuff/keep people out, it just puts a wanted level on whoever breaks the lock, and that's usually not a big deal so many people will break locks just because there's a lock there.

Resources are infinitely generated anyway, so its not like you are really losing anything. Besides that, since most things have a low amount of storage (they fill up in 15 to 30 minutes) or respawn quickly (like crops), you probably won't even notice anything was removed unless you get back to camp right after they have done so.

I only ever use level 0 or level 1 locks on resource extractors if I'm needing to gather a lot of that material, and even then just as a way to tell others I would prefer they not take whatever was locked. It doesn't hurt me if they do end up taking something.

Those built-in locks are useless because more often than not, they get other players wanted by mistake, AND they steal your stuff anyway. If you want to lock something up, use a door with a keypad (available in this plan: https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Plan:_Powered_gates ), which can't be opened without a passcode. Players can't open the door, can never ever steal your stuff. New players who don't know the mechanics won't become wanted by accident. Everybody's happy.

Thank you very much, I never used the keypad and didnt't know that
1st of all, if you lock a camp item? It does not matter what level lock it is. Every single player will be wanted when they open a lock at your camp or hack a terminal.

The moment a camp item is unlocked / hacked? Then you have to LOCK that camp item again.

In short: lock the camp items you want, i have always locked some camp items like my birthday cake and my company tea.

I'm not a PvP person caus i'm terrible at it BUT... the moment some one steals from me? I gonna hunt them down no matter the cost.

This.
I generally don’t mind my resource generators being open, and I specifically put out a Weenie Wagon and Water Cooler next to my vendor. But I decided, the other day, that I didn’t want people in my house.

I played with locks for a while and finally settled on level 0 locks on all my doors. I can walk in without having to lock pick, but they’re still locked.

On the other hand, I’ve also claimed 5 bounties in just the last few days. One was an Expeditions teammate.

If you walk through my locks, and I’m there to see it, I’m going to try to remove your wanted status.

Perfectly put mate ;)

I don't lock anything. In fact, I intend for people to help themselves. I have them for visitors as much as myself. I have company tea, dog meat, a fortune teller, and a collection of water coolers near my vending machines specifically for visitors. It just feels neighborly. I feel locking things is antisocial.

When I played it 2018 I was the opposite, and it felt more wild west, every man for himself. I picked up again in 2024 and it feels much the opposite. I feel Fallout 76 generally has a really good community and I want to do my part to make it a positive one.

If you get through a lock and steal stuff and server hop, the wanted thingy persists?
