Is this game good now?

Hi, so I just finished the fallout show with my father and we both loved it, it's certainly reinvigorated my interest in the fallout series. Been a fan since I was 13 and 4 came out, though I have also played the older games in the series and have some familarity with them.

I recall back in 2018 this game's launch was terrible, in fact, probably one of the worst game launches like...ever. The game barely worked, there was no NPCs, quests and barely any new lore(all of which being like, 99% of the reason anyone plays the games) and so much more wrong. Such a disappointment too, since I feel Fallout always would've worked well as a DayZ/Unturned/Ark-esque survival MMORPG.

I've known people who've said they never want to play this game again because of how terrible it was at launch, but on the other hand I've heard from several people who say this game has effectively had it's own "no man's sky" effect and became a much better game years later with updates. My own boyfriend, who is himself a big fallout fan, plays the game and it is something of a motivator to consider playing it

I'd like some second opinions from the forums though, is this game really good now? or is it still as bad as it was at launch?

I personally can say its fun (to me) when i can play it (also mostly solo player), I've spent most of my time just exploring and doing some events and have enjoyed it(theres some really cool locations). I do recommend you try out some of the older titles too like 3 and new vegas as they are also fun. A bit outdated and janky but still fun. If you do decide on buying the game i would say buy it on sale or on a website like cd keys, dlcompare(compares most if not all game selling sites) just in case you don't enjoy it it at least wasn't a big cost out of your pocket.

300 hours in and still haven't finished all the main/side quests, it's a blast. It's not perfect, but it's a fun Fallout experience.

To the OP, its hard to tell you TBH, if you like RPG and heavy grinding then yes, if you dont like thise things then no, and trust me this is grindy its not FO3 or FO4 or any other FO game, this is FO76 and its very grindy, spend over a total of 8000 hours in the game, 5000 of them being on steam and the other 3K hours on bethesda launcher before they shut it down and moved to steam.

OP wait for a sale, the game is often on sale for 14,99$ then you wont miss out on too much cash if the game turns out to be nothing for you :)

Yeah havent been able to play,(my microsoft store is still bricked so sad lost 900 atoms....) mostly can play on the weekend however just being on here is easy enough just type whenever i get the chance:P

IC :) Was just wondering if you did manage to fix you MS account.

I don't know whats wrong with it, i played fine took 2 days off because i got busy and when i tried playing again it just turns gray when i click on the shortcut. It sucks, but on the bright side steam version is way better. It actually allows me to mess with the exe. Properties and nvidia settings work for it too unlile ms version

IC :) Never had the microsoft launcher installed, people say they got great deals, but i have so many game launchers installed as it is.

Great deals, but at a cost of loss of custimization and performance. For some reason they run worse could be because of onedrive or outlook scanning constantly and maybe thay causes issues? But i uninstalled both, disabled game bar. Did pretty much everything and they're just not great...
