PSA: Taking side with Crater or Foundation will not lock you from purchasing guns

A lot of videos on Youtube are missleading people into thinking that you need to pick your side based on weapons you are interested in because you will be locked from them unless you have a twink. This is a missleading part, because apparently what they were trying to say and failed so many times at that.. is that when you will pick the side, you will get max reputation with the side that you are picking much faster than with the other side thus you are locking yourself from either Gauss Shotgun or Gauss minigun early game, but it's only temporarely. You will get access to both Gauss shotgun and Gauss minigun once you max out both factions. So my advice based on my experience - just pick Crater faction because that's the only way to get best plasma rifle in the game. And overall they are not as boring as Foundation. Their quests are somewhat good.

Having Gauss shotgun < having best plasma rifle for free. Trust me, it's really hard to make Enclave plasma better than this one. It's unique version of plasma that you don't want to miss. So it would be wise to pick Crater. You will get your Gauss Shotgun later. Also.. Foundation doesn't really have anything of real value on max reputation other than Gauss Shotgun, all the good stuff for your CAMP is actually concentrated on max reputation with Crater. Just saying.

I think you misunderstand something or are watching very stupid content creators because nobody knowing what's up thinks this.

What I got from videos way back when is that you hamper yourself for a good while when selecting the side you don't get the weapon you want from because the rep buildup is so terribly slow that you want to come out ahead as much as possible if you want it fast.

And then, of course, Minerva is a thing too.

So no idea what gimps you are watching, but maybe look for better guide videos.

Most of them said that. Most of them missleading people into thinking this way. I don't remember a single one that mentioned that you will get both weapons no matter which side you pick. Most people doesn't know about Minerva as well. They didn't mentioned her in their video even once. I only learned about this NPC this month. In game.

i went with foundation and everyone in crater is kinda buttmad but not really theyre just like "grr dont do it again mister haha anyways whats up"

I always do all missions with both factions up to the point of no return so i can get the Chinese stealth armour from foundation for free. Then i go with Crater for the vault raid regardless of the character i am playing as that gets me the Slug Buster plasma gun.

This gives the most rewards and as you say who you side with is fairly irrelevant as you can keep levelling rep anyway to get all the reward items they sell. Plus you can side with either for the raid and then decide to give the gold to the other faction or even keep it all for yourself depending on your situation anyway.

So it essentially comes down to do you want the Chinese stealth armour for free or need to buy it for a lot of bullion later and do you want the Slug Buster for free or need to trade for it later. If you don't care about either of these items just go with whoever you like.

I did Crater already. Rolled another character and doing Foundation this time for the achievement. You don't really miss out on anything.

Do the quests for Both Foundation and Crater, until you have to choose which faction to raid the Vault with. You don't lock yourself out of weapons with plans.

But, you do lock any weapons, that the quest after the Choice is made with that faction, A 10mm SMG, one star with AP, for Foundation. A Plasma Rifle, 3 star for Crater.

If you get your checks correct, I have not done the quest with Crater, but Bought the Plasma Rifle with Caps, at player Vendors, before it was shown to be a good weapon.

So, look up what the rewards are with each Faction. But after you get to max affinity with each faction after, they will still sell you plans for the Weapons, and if you did not do the quest with Foundation, a very expensive Chinese Stealth Suit, for 3,000 Bullion.
