Missions on Team

I am a recent player to the game. I play with a buddy of mine and I have a question about team play as it relates to missions.
Is the team leader the only person that can progress through a mission and get the rewards even though both players have the same mission?
We did a mission last night and he was the leader. We both had the same mission and submission. When we entered the door for the mission, I selected join leader. When complete, only he got the rewards. I had to go back in myself and redo the mission to be rewarded.
Does FO76 not apply rewards and mission completions for the whole team like some of my other coop games do? Or am I missing some simple trick so that we can do a mission together, on a team and complete it without having to do it individually?

Unfortunately yes, quests count only for the leader. You need to do everything twice switching the team leader back and forth. It's a stupid and half-arsed system and people have been complaining about it since launch.

Thx for the response. Thought it would what you said. Found that we did not have to change leader, the non leader could just join without joining leader but still had to do it a second time.

It works for some side quest, daily and such. But yeah it really sucks that you can coop in this game but not completely because well... Bethesdont obviously

i play with a friend and we just accepted that, i help him or he helps me when doing main quests. its dumb.
