Fun gun that does a lot of damage but is painfully slow to reload. Players do use them but they are not super popular due to the very slow reload.
They are one of my favorite rifles in the game and all my toons carry them. Good Dragon can sell for reasonable amount of money, legacy ones are really expensive. That one unfortunately is pretty mediocre, Executioner's isn't the worst ever but 2nd star is very meh although 90%WR is quite nice. But they aren't that heavy to begin with so it's not that awesome.
It fires 4 bullets with each shot and has very high range and absurdly, absurdly... absurdly (yes it warrants all three) long reload time
Legacy dragons are
419 range and if they have that effect 20% explosive
Modern dragons are
228 range and if they have that effect 3% explosive
When the incredibly easy to do ammo glitch existed (It was so prevalent players OFTEN accidentally caused their weapons to get hundreds if not thousands more rounds than they should have all the time), players would swap over a gun with 2000+ rounds in it so that the dragon would effectively fire 2000 times instantly which was enough to obliterate the queen in one shot
Because of the very high single shot damage they make good PvP guns, but aside from that the absurdly long reload time makes them very unpopular
a two shot explosive dragon can crit players for 110 damage 10 times meaning that even the most kitted out PvP player cannot survive a vats critical shot from it (110 + 110 then the others are regular damage + explosive)
So a modern TS E dragon would do 660 damage in 5x110 damage bullets +1x 110 damage explosion + about another 160 damage from the other explosions for a total of 720 damage which is a death sentence to players... you can push that to around 950-1000 with a bunch of min/max and 1100 with absurd min max
a legacy dragon would be 5x 110 damage + 5x 110 damage for 1100 damage which is unstoppable death to players... and this is without any attempt to min/max the weapon
pretty much my only item I'm kind casually looking for is a two shot 20% explosive 419 range legacy dragon... but they were never popular, players never kept them, players never duped them, so its a rarity for sure
The one you have wouldn't have any buyers, its script value... the extremely long reload times makes it extremely unpopular for PvE, where its not even the highest single damage hit weapon players can have... since thankfully the ammo glitch was finally patched quite a while ago this gun is never used outside of PvP
PvP'ers like executioners, but not on that specific weapon, and even for those of us who PvP its a niche weapon meant to punish players who don't use stealthboys and to troll regular PvP players with instant kill long range fire
It may be worth carrying, if you come across PvP players (mostly the wanted trolls) and you pull out a dragon they start to panic assuming its got enough stopping power to one shot them
Blackpowder rifle that fires four balls at time. There are builds around using it, but I don't think it is considered all that valuable.
Edit: I see some of you know more about the Dragon than I.🙃
it's great on display, but not much else, the reloads are terrible and it doesn't help you can be interrupted while reloading, thus having to start over.
I put a bayonet on the regular black powder gun, I have never seen another one.
Bayonets for the Dragon were removed, but they are still around for the rifle (Try the vendor in Grafton).
Guess I should say they were not removed exactly you just cant put a Bayonet on a Dragon anymore, my understanding they still exist but as Legacy weapons.
