The Fallout Amazon Series
Opinion Warning: PLENTY of bias included!

I'll open with the fact that I couldn't have more wood right now.

I wish they'd stop trying to spin it as Fallout 5... Fallout 5 is not a TV show, Fallout 5 is an immersive first person RPG for the PC, and maybe consoles as a secondary concern, all free from microtransactions.

I think we're going to have a great show no matter what, the Fallout universe is crazy enough that there's no way terms 'WOKE' or 'MAGA' can apply because the reality framework simply doesn't support them or the ideologies which allow them to exist. Any attempt to brand it as such is wholly born from the individuals attempting to inject their own misperceptions into the universe.

I am curious how much the show is going to avoid showing China in the bad light they are shown in the games, you know, because real world politics and whiney little ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. If Fallout isn't showing "the west" in a bad light, then I'm not sure anything can, so no reason to exclude the communists from in-universe criticism.

It will never not bug me, what they've done with the vault door shown in the trailer. Round things are made round to roll on surfaces, not so flat notched floors can slide underneath them. I accept that there's no canon reason this abomination can't exist, since all vault doors so far have had some variation from a common theme (which is acceptable since vault main entrances aren't commodity manufactured items), but most basic physics still apply in the Fallout universe, friction being a big one. I really want to hear some behind the scenes chatter on why it was designed the way it was.

When a deathclaw is finally revealed to us, any predictions? Sure we're getting a yao-guai, but after the vault door... a pip-boy... bobble heads... nuclear war... radroach... Mr. Handys, and old-timey music, the deathclaw is the iconic representation of Fallout. Oh and the power armor.

Are we getting a cool popcorn bucket topper like the Dune nerds? WHY NOT!!!

I'm not a fan of what amazon does to series but the official trailer def has me interested in keeping up with it. You can tell there's some predictive rendering involved that I'm eager to see in action and it'll probably rustle a few people that it has a very similar vibe to battle angel alita but I think the choice fits her role perfectly.

Well people tend to get really confused easily.

The show takes place in California after the events of Fallout 4 which is why people are thinking of it as Fallout 5. It has also been said the show is considered canon.

Which technically makes no sense, because Fallout 76 would have been Fallout 5. However people seem to think just because people did not like it meant it was not canon.

As for the China thing, China need to put on some big boy pants and understand it is an alternate reality.

HIGH from left field!
Since I can't get Apocalyptic altered fish to catch, hunt, or eat me in these games...
Can we at least have them in the series?¿?
People will be near rivers, oceans, water filled chasms...
The fish can attack you when too close.
Sure sure mirklurks & what not.
But FISH too!!!!!
I still have my rod!
My fishing hat.
My slicker.
Waiting to fish or kill fish or be killed by fish!

Oxhorn's take on the older trailer is about right:

With the producers saying it is FO5[www.gamesradar.com] tracks... there are so many reused assets...

You greatly underestimate Amazon's ability to screw stuff up. Look no further than Rings of Power or Wheel of Time.

At the same time, The Peripheral was fantastic (also Johnathan Nolan, too bad the long strike ended up getting it cancelled), and I also think Reacher is fantastic (never read the books) - so Amazon can do a good job when the right people are involved.

As you say though, Wheel of Time, holy crap if there's a sign of brain damage happening that's it. Rings of Power I am fine with, because outside the trilogy and the hobbit I know fook all about the universe (tried reading Silmarilian when I was 12, did not complete it).

Hope man! Hope!

I did notice the cars were wrong, but I am still hoping for the best.

Maybe they will explain how the NCR fell apart after the events of FNV?🙃

I noticed that too because the cars looked more form the 30s rather than 50s.
However they could have been in a junkyard of old gasoline vehicles, rather than the fusion cars we see in game.

If we're going to get that picky there's an orange plastic traffic barrel form the 90s.

Ok logically... the way the Fallout universe works is technology peaked at a time of great indulgence and wealth so the world got trapped in time consuming and consuming until the need for resources spurned further development and as negative consequence, great resentment among populations unlike each other. Fallout is what-if man stopped during peak civilization and persisted until it came down to killing each other over maintaining their way of consumption. Even our characters exist to consume.. the carcass of a dead civilization.

Dude, as many cars as I have blown up over the decades the cars are an important detail :steammocking:

I was just pointing out a possibility of why they looked more like 30s vehicles than the 50s vehicles. Which if they were older gas models makes perfect sense going with the lore of the franchise.

Hopefully NCR did not fall apart lol

If they did, it could explain how the BOS became more powerful on the west coast.
Possibly House dominated at New Vegas, and the NCR fell apart due to the corruption they mention during FNV.

Will have to see, officially the war had not ended in 2282 (last FNV entry.)
