Think of them like console lite for the low low price of 22.99 / month... where nothing is (thankfully) saved to the actual world

you can have the world have a few very lite console command type functions when you create said world

Private Adventure is identical to regular adventure, accept it's private. Only you and any friends you might have made on the world. Anything that happens in Private Adventure goes back to regular adventure.

Custom worlds are a one way trip. What happens in Custom has no bearing on Adventure. Your character is forked. You can continue leveling up in Adventure and it has no bearing on Custom (unless you import the character again). What you do in custom has no impact on Adventure at all.

Now while you do not have access to console commands. In Custom you can change the difficulty level of mobs, change how much damage you do, and how much they do. You can give yourself unlimited junk for crafting, unlimited ammo.
