Quickly see inventory category of items?

For some items like serums, repair kits, stable flux, treasury notes etc it's often a pain to find them in my stash box, because I can't remember of every item to which inventory category it belongs. It could be in Aid, Misc, Food, Junk etc. Two questions about this:

1) Is there a quick and easy way to find a specific item in my stash box?
2) And what if I inspect an item in my active inventory? Can I somehow see to which category the item belongs?

you asking for PC qol options, for a game that was made with moneygrabbing on consoles in mind?

1) No. There is no search function. You just need to remember which category each thing is under. Gets easy after a while with commonly used items.

2) Also no. Viewing an item will not tell you what category it is under. If you are inspecting an item you already know what category it is under, as you are in that category in order to inspect it. Not sure what you mean exactly?

What I do is press Q on a certain category to add a filter to make it easy to find certain things. For example if I have unprocessed ore in MISC i Press Q to filter by weight on top so it is easy to find ores. Or filter by cost in aid to find mutation serums easily as they are usually one of the more valuable things under aid category. For flux I search by weight under junk and they will be on top unless you are not breaking down your junk.

Also why are you putting treasury notes in your stash? They have no weight and cannot be stolen off your person so it is just a pointless step putting them into the stash. Especially if you are finding it hard to find them again, why do it?

Outside of inventory mods this is really all we have. I agree it could be much better. I really am annoyed each time I have to scroll past multiple copies of a key or keycards I have accidentally looted again, just to get to the items I am trying to find.

you can order them through inventory according value or weight or alphabetically
that's how i do it

Thanks for your answers. I'll learn to use Q more often.

To answer your question: for example, after a SBQ fight I get a few stable flux as reward. I know that I already have a few stable flux stored in my stash. I want to know how many exactly (because I need a certain amount to craft an item), so I want to find them in my stash, but don't remember which category.
