Is it just you in a camp orr from what i hear like number 4 you can have npcs in your camp, i know it sounds dumb but the whole building you own little village/fort in a wasteland to grow and defend just sits right with me.
There is afew npcs you have to find to have them added to your camp site. Only one ally can be active and two of them have a quest to do for a reward. You can grow crops and the thing that makes you water if you are near a water source. Of course you'll need a power generator. You can also sit up a vendor for players to browse what you put up for sale in it. Can put 120 items in them. There also a player bunker to grab at vault 51 up on top of the left side of the map.
if its a little village of npcs that do some vending and repairing for you? no thats not int he scope of this games "base" system.
all that being said heres a few screen shots of old camps i had long before most of the current cool camp stuff was released or purchased form the game cosmetic store.
My First camp:

a white later same location but now ive got my first full set of T series power armor parts. notice the camp looks more like a house?

a few months into it now and ive been busy ... multiple structures now...
and even space for visitors...

heres the view from the deck of the red building in the previous shot....

and my most recent full camp build... glass building set was a limited time reward for a previous season, there is talk of allowing previously limited time rewards to be sold for special in game currency from the in game traveling vendor.

but the growth a players character goes thru as the level up and learn more plans and buy more stuff to build...
well heres three other player camps i ran across and had to stop and frame a shot...
just to show how much imagination you can put into a camp build...

and this last one might be my favorite imaginative build... not my favorite camp but the user who built this thought way outside the box and NAILED it...

yes thats a giant doll house....amazing isnt it?
so there are just a few samples of what we have done... there are more amazing builds than these... dozens if not hundreds on youtube channels that upload a ton of "best camps of the week" episodes lol...
these screen shots hardly scratch the surface... if building a fair sized post apoc safe zone is what your after with a fallout themed sandbox and questing with tons of story telling by environment is appealing to you... its here... ive enjoyed almost 1500 hours of it so far, and im about to build a whole new camp with some of the newer things they have been putting up in the atom shop. good luck, its a good game with lots of stuff to do and far more hours of fun then you have hours to spare lol.
Simple break down is that four is a better story and far less flawed bug-wise, and a better game in general. 76 is an addiction. Play four til you get bored, then come nuke some stuff on 76.
Yes, they are very different games*
