yes you can build a camp but you aren't allowed to build near locations and inside other players camp zones. You are only limited to such space, find or buy blueprints to unlock more stuff to build in your camp(s). You can own two camps(can buy an extra camp slot from the atom shop) but only one can be active at a time. There is a camp build / storage limitations. If you leave and join a different server. If you can't spawn your camp to where ever you left it. Somewhere else's camp is taking up your spot. You can either leave or stay on server and move it someone else (costs 40 caps to do so). NPCS and players can destroy your camp. No one really destroys player camps so nothing to worry about. You can build in your friends camp if they allow it. If you see workshops locations on the map- it's only there when you stay on the server so if you leave. You don't own the workshop anymore, players can also take it from you and kill you. It's auto pvp if they try to take it from you. Npcs also attack it. workshops are for resources in the area of it.

mega thx and sorry few more questions.
Is it just you in a camp orr from what i hear like number 4 you can have npcs in your camp, i know it sounds dumb but the whole building you own little village/fort in a wasteland to grow and defend just sits right with me.

There is afew npcs you have to find to have them added to your camp site. Only one ally can be active and two of them have a quest to do for a reward. You can grow crops and the thing that makes you water if you are near a water source. Of course you'll need a power generator. You can also sit up a vendor for players to browse what you put up for sale in it. Can put 120 items in them. There also a player bunker to grab at vault 51 up on top of the left side of the map.

its not quite a "build a fort and defend it thing in this game. there are a few random npcs that might spawn near your camp and try to attack it but in general they dont do much damage... there are things called workshops, that are basically resource areas that are also pvp zones once claimed these workshops come with little defend events but also carry the possibility of other players coming to have a go at you as well. if thats what youre after is player v player defneding a little area you get to build up? its possible.\
if its a little village of npcs that do some vending and repairing for you? no thats not int he scope of this games "base" system.
all that being said heres a few screen shots of old camps i had long before most of the current cool camp stuff was released or purchased form the game cosmetic store.

My First camp:

a white later same location but now ive got my first full set of T series power armor parts. notice the camp looks more like a house?

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2426049006

a few months into it now and ive been busy ... multiple structures now...
and even space for visitors...

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2426049186

heres the view from the deck of the red building in the previous shot....

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2426049168

and my most recent full camp build... glass building set was a limited time reward for a previous season, there is talk of allowing previously limited time rewards to be sold for special in game currency from the in game traveling vendor.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/1151340/discussions/0/4263206669440379852/

but the growth a players character goes thru as the level up and learn more plans and buy more stuff to build...
well heres three other player camps i ran across and had to stop and frame a shot...
just to show how much imagination you can put into a camp build...

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2426049528

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2426049837

and this last one might be my favorite imaginative build... not my favorite camp but the user who built this thought way outside the box and NAILED it...

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2411182680

yes thats a giant doll house....amazing isnt it?

so there are just a few samples of what we have done... there are more amazing builds than these... dozens if not hundreds on youtube channels that upload a ton of "best camps of the week" episodes lol...
these screen shots hardly scratch the surface... if building a fair sized post apoc safe zone is what your after with a fallout themed sandbox and questing with tons of story telling by environment is appealing to you... its here... ive enjoyed almost 1500 hours of it so far, and im about to build a whole new camp with some of the newer things they have been putting up in the atom shop. good luck, its a good game with lots of stuff to do and far more hours of fun then you have hours to spare lol.

so more a question for everyone what worth going after more this one or fallout 4 or are to different to spec at.
PotatoBasket Aug 13, 2021 @ 11:44am
4 is prettier, so far as it runs and looks but if you try to go back to it after 76 you will just miss 76; the combat and gameplay are MUCH more fun in 76 and after getting through 4's amazing story and tire of building settlements the gameplay is really all you have.
Simple break down is that four is a better story and far less flawed bug-wise, and a better game in general. 76 is an addiction. Play four til you get bored, then come nuke some stuff on 76.
Yes, they are very different games*
