Mysterious Cave/Pawn Shop puzzle question *Spoiler*
Hi.

I just collected all the 6 code pieces, combined them to the PIN for the mysterious cave and entered it. But there is nothing inside but the closed Vault door for Vault 79.
I already finished the questline around Vault 79. Was this another way in for the people who go the long way with this method and don't want to involve one of the factions?
Or is it really just an easteregg?

I'm a little bit confused right now, the reward doesn't match the outcome in any way. I have no problem with it, but the first people who discovered the envelopes and solved the puzzle must've been a little bit pissed i guess.

Happy to be enlightend or corrected :-D

The Mysterious Cave was pretty much a Easter Egg for the upcoming Wastelander Update.
It was added with the "Nuclear Winter" update last year and players could solve it but the entry to Vault 79 inside was locked behind a laser grid.
Only after finishing the story questline and accessing the vault in Wastelanders does the grid disappear.
So its just a gimmick and now with Wastelanders released a alternative entry into the vault.

So yes, there is not much point to the whole thing anymore except doing it for fun and a bit of exp.

Actually, kinda wrong.

If you chose to side with the settlers and you try to help a raider do the Vault 79 run then they have to enter the code for you.

If you completed that eater egg quest then you have your own code.

Yeah if you didnt side with raiders and try to help a raider do the raid it is a complete and utter pain in the ass to enter.

The raider player has to go there first, enter the code and wait in the elevator. Then the non-raiders have to go see if the laser grids allow them to pass, if not have to fast travel to load again. Then one all helpers are in the elevator the raider can enter. Then the non-raiders can enter. If anyone is forced to leave the vault (like I got trapped in scanning room) then you have to repeat the whole entry process all over again.

Ok, good to now. I only play on my private world alone so i had no clue it had consequences for the multiplayer part.

I only found out because I had some random level 26 stranger as me in my camp if I could help them with the vault raid. Apparently he had been attempting it for hours. Vault 79 has static levels on the mobs. A levle 26 was no match for the mobs and turrets inside.

I had already done it on another character so figured why not, I was bored and there is a bunch of legendary mobs inside.
