Any Tips For Fighting Robots?
"Git gud", "just stop playing the game" and "don't get hit" aside, what are good ways to take on robots as a solo player?

They're the only type of enemy I'm struggling against, Assaultrons especially, and even energy weapons don't seem very effective for now.

Try to be sneaky. Or get a Trouble Shooters Gun (legendary +30% more damage against robots).

don't get hit, and aim for their critical parts

get the tesla rifle or have a special weapon with armor penetration and more damage to robots

Protectrons - shoot their middle where it looks like black rubber under the chest; that seems to be their 'head' for crit/big damage purposes. But, they are easy anyway.

Assaultrons - use line of sight when they are about to use their head laser (ie hide behind a wall or tree). Crippling their legs is highly effective too, but can take a while; I usually carry a high powered black powder rifle to stealth crit their legs as my first shot (does a TON of damage). Railway guns also work.

Shoot the rollers in the arms, Assaultrons in the legs and the Mr. Gutsy in the eyes. Least that's what I do. V.A.T.S is your friend.

- The Enforcer, Tormentor, Modern Renegade and One Gun Army perks also give a chance to cripple with each shot.

- When activated, the crippling effect multiplies limb damage by 999.

- Weapon upgrades exist that provide a 20% chance to cripple a limb.

Crippling legs prevent them from chasing you around and crippling arms prevents them from using anything other than melee.

This works for most things including robots.

I find hitting them with a super sledge does wonders.

Assaultrons and Gutsy spend so much time getting staggered they can't counterattack effectively. Protectrons, Handys and Eyebots crumble like paper.

Getting into Melee is a little tougher on Assaultrons and Gutsy's. So you'll want to use cover to lure them in closer and hit them between firings. Once I get a hit in they go down pretty quickly.

Of course all of that is easier in power armor.

As a heavy build One Gun Army works good against assaultrons. Even work on imposter sheepsquash.

Robot type has overall higher defense than living being, and that make card like tank killer / Armor Piercing effect work best vs this type of unit.

Also unlike your everyday scorched/ghoul, Robot weakpoint is actually their limb. SImply put an arrow or hot lead in their knee can solve your "robot investation" problem

Melee weapons are better on Protectrons. They seem to be very bullet resistant.

Yeah, I also have good results with melee for Protectrons.

Like I posted above, shoot them in the middle, just under their chest breastplate is a black area. Bullets do twice to three times as much damage there as shooting them in the head.

Body shots or pick off their sensors first. The Mr Handy models you can shoot their hovering thruster and make them drop.

Assaultrons beam is OP, You just gotta keep close to the Assaultron and for the other robots, I 1 shot them
