I have no controller and have no need of one. Much better with K/M.
I wouldn't say exactly the same. They feel more dumbed down compared to FO4.
Unplug it at the controller then.
I've also heard of some people having the game think they have a controller when they don't. For anyone with that problem, they can open the Fallout76Prefs.ini file in Documents/my games/Fallout 76 and change
to
If it's not there, add it.

Go to the main menu / Settings / Game / Controller OFF.
Similar to how it was in FO4.
