Saving in this game is a waste of time?
Only played for a couple of hours, killed the 3 farm hands supervisor robots, explored the facility, came back outside but didn't do the water samples, logged out and lost all that progress.

Got a free code, should I uninstall the game or give it another try, not impressed so far, does it get better?

That's an event not a mission. It happens in real time and anyone can join you, it's not something you save and come back to later, but something anyone can do repeatedly.

This is an online game, it's not like previous Fallouts where you can save and reload from that save. What you were doing is an event, and events never save progress when logging off.

everything beyond personal progress quests resets when you hop servers or based on a set timer/other triggers.

Quest progress is saved. Event and Challenge progress resets.
Events are the big Icosahedron (d20) shaped icons on the map.
Challenges are black diamond shaped icons.

The black square shaped icons I think are your current objective...? I'm not honestly sure because this game doesn't explain jack squat to new players.

to complete the mission after likking the 3 master robots, you had to use a computer in the basement. then you would have got the reward. if not, when a mission is not completed, you have a message "if you leave now, you will lose all benefits from the mission", so you can change your mind.

oh... yeah I've had a few of those that piss me off. Like protecting the responder bot while he opens the 3 doors with alarms. After that he's like... "go enjoy the loot inside I'll just wander home" ... but if you don't guard him all the way home you fail the mission.

Why do people keep claiming to save? This is an MMO you do not have a save option, your game progress is saved on Bethesda servers. Am I just misunderstanding what these people are referring to?

Honestly starting to think bots are invading Steam discussions. Seeing 'not saving progress' as being an issue and reason for refunding games like Destiny 2, Black Desert Online, and more.

Congratulations! You just discoverd the game's primary gameplay loop! Arent you smart! If you dont like playing the same 20 events over and over ad infinitum just uninstall now because it doesnt get any better!

OP my fellow forum users missed the the key points... As I understand it you were doing the water samples quest in Flatwoods for the Responders when you triggered the farm supervisor event.

The event to kill the farm supervisors isn't a part of the quest. It is proximity triggered when getting too close to the farm research centre, and it isn't on cool down.

The quest to analyse the water samples should still be at the last stage you did. There may be a slight loss of progress as the game only saved quests at set points, usually after each step.
