Question about timeline events?
I currently can not check while I am in-game steam overlay/browser breaks often, Does anyone know if 76 takes place after or during the events of fallout 4? if after then what fallout 4 ending does 76 assume took place? the leader of the bos in 76 mentions elder maxson and the prydwen she states that she can't get a hold of the prydwen and maxson so I am guessing this is because 76 assumes that norah/nate destroyed it with one of the three factions?

F76 takes place 185 years before F4. This is chronologically the first game in the series

FO76 is much earlier, FO4 takes place almost 200 years later.
EDIT. Typo. :P And got ninja'd again.

ish

fo4 is the precursor game to all of them, the game starts before bombs drop day, then you go get to the vault and skip forward 200 years

fo76 you literally are released in your lifetime from the vault shortly after bombs drop day

I guess its also kinda the setting of the VR pod game that makes you a soldier in the alaska war DLC for what fo3? or NV or whatever it was, but IIRC that was just a simulation of events so isn't really set ahead of fo4

Ah If this is true then that would mean maxson is not born yet.... and yet the woman boss leader in fort atlas mentions maxson and the prydwen/HQ that don't make sense?

The Maxson in Fo4 is a descendant of this one.

If I recall right the releases thus far have been in reverse, FO1 being the farthest in the future and 76 most recent.

Doesnt make sense that during the time of Fallout 1 and Fallout 3, these different variants of power armor like the T65, the Union, Ultracite PA and Excavator were not in circulation, its like they were retroactively added in. T60 was the last and most recent PA that was issued late by the US Army, they had some in the anchorage campaign, but conveniently missing in Southern California where the original BOS was founded.

T51B has always been in circulation, but Beth took over from Interplay, the OG Lore dont have any old T45s in Mariposa, Navarro or Sierra Army Depot.

The only thing I can say about the Power Armor is the higher the model number the less likely as many were produced at the time of humanity's downfall. This idea would make it more likely that due the the limited number the more likely they didn't last through the years (fewer parts to maintain and upkeep). But this is all my personal opinion that might answer the reason why say T-65 was not in Fallout 1-3.

I'm sure other people will have their own takes as to the reasoning behind it. I would love to hear other people's views as to why.

We kind of get to see those kinds of PA in Appalachia is because of the Whitspring Bunker. The enclave made that bunker the C&C for their military post war that controls the Nuke Silos and has a bio lab.

Which is why we get to see the T60, X-01, the gold Vault in the area with the Secret Service and their armor and T65, I think the HellCat is a Marine PA made for rushing the beaches which is why it can bounce a lot of DR and there was a Marine unit there pre war for an exercise so there could be a Marine base close by,

The rest of the new PA we saw is either post war with local materials that can't be found anywhere else or made by commercial companies for their own use which is why the designs didn't show up on the West Coast.

Oh I remember the old guy elder fallout 1 yes I do remember wow that was a long time ago so I am guessing in the timeline fallout 4 is the game that ends the timeline for now meaning fallout 4 came after every fallout game?

Timeline:
Fallout 76 - 2102
Fallout - 2161
Fallout 2 - 2241
Fallout 3 - 2277
Fallout 4 - 2287

The TV series is 2296

T-45 exists because Bethesda didn't concept art the Power Armor and went straight to 3D modelling. They completely ignored the original look.

The lore and timeline is also thusly ignored and full of retcons and head scratchers.

Best to think of Fallout as a anthology series with self contained episodes than a serialised series.

It would make sense lore-wise if Fallout 76 was a sequel to Fallout 4 to get rid of these anachronisms in the timeline

Good thing it is not I mean the items and locations and creatures maybe really good but the mechanics suck so does the bugs/issues I've found more then 60 bugs in 76 plus the issue I just had now with the power armor I've just found when I equipped it all my controls stopped working the screen was not froze but then the power armor disappeared as if it went invisible or the whole frame went into my inventory yet still my controls were disabled and this is why I am a hater for power armor in 76 in my opinion fallout 4 is better then 76 will ever be because fo4 don't have that many issues as 76 has and soon will force me to quit/give up playing 76 permanently.
