Fallout 1st : "To be billed on a recurring basis."
So if you buy one month of Fallout 1st, you keep getting billed every month until you cancel. But how do you cancel? The store page doesn't make that clear.

On Steam, click on your name in the top right corner, click on Account Settings, then Click Manage Subcriptions. You can cancel it there so it won't auto-rebill. You'll still keep all the benefits for the rest of the month that you subscribed for, along with the items and emotes.

Well, where I think people that pay Bethesda for Fallout 1st suck - I also think that's a really dumb reply. It's all about convienence. Once you grow up and get bills, you'll understand what I mean.
bills are a little different from videogame subscriptions now are they?
yes thank god my bills get auto paid, but thats where the richman's trap comes in, to apply that same feature on videogames that should have this system OPTIONAL, not forced. its disgusting honestly. this has nothing to do with convenience, if you think so then those rich people have you dancing to their tunes :P

i remember a time where only some sub based systems did this. so you would end up accidently paying for services you dont even use anymore and figure out months later on your bank receipt

yeah because enabling addictive behaviour is EXACTLY the same as paying your damn electricity bill...

Manage your Steam subscriptions to cancel. applies to any subscription on Steam.

now if only there was a way to do this for every game before even starting the subscription(so it stops automatically), but that would be too convenient for valve.

you aren't meant to cancel subscriptions right when you sign up, most people want to be billed monthly when they sign up for a SUBSCRIPTION.

well i guess i am not most people then. i dont mind taking 30 seconds to start up a sub again so i dont get billed for nothing, since i rarely play games for longer than a month anyway

you're missing the purpose of a subscription though, Valve will never allow you to not auto renew, that extra step is because it's a subscription you intend to keep being charged for until it ends. Otherwise it'd just be DLC.

it hasnt always been this way though, 15 years ago none of the subscription based mmo's would auto renewal your sub, or at the very least would ask if you wanted to keep it going

...... no... they auto renewed... anarchy online was 2001 and it auto-renewed, same with world of warcraft unless you used a playtime card you bought from a physical store or something... i think you were just buying physical game-time cards

well now im starting to doubt myself, but the mainpoint is though i feel they are making it harder and harder on the consumers to even find how to cancel a subscription. if given the power/chance they would hide it in the hardest to find location possible, and make the minimum 3-6months. i still think its scummy
