Bethesda is one of the best game developers.
Every Bethesda game since Morrowind has been good, stop jumping on the "it's cool to hate Bethesda" bandwagon. The old isometric Fallout 1 and 2 were junk, Obsidian's Outer Worlds is terrible. Bethesda has been making better games than most developers. CD Project Red and Bethesda are probably the best game developers currently around even though they have completely different ways of operating.

I'll throw in my coffeine induced experience and opinion on this..

Ok. Just to start of with so you dont take me for a rabid reviewbombtroll ( I DONT plan to buy Fallout 76 and never will ). I will ramble so get your cup of coffe or whatever.

But heres from a person that have been aloooong way from the Fallout franchise. I have all the old games on discs and only Fallout 3 and New Vegas on steam. Remember when I was a kid, playing the demo of the first game back in the days without my parents noticing because of the insane gorefest that happened on screen. Remember what the meaty, shredding sounds the SMG did to people, also groin shots.... Yeah, brutality.
Now, I have never completed F1, 2 or Tactics, never had time and theres SO many interesting games to delve into and lose track of time.
However I did finish Fallout 3 its DLC and New Vegas, again finished these before I even bothered with Steam. And I have only Fallout 4 on XboxOne ( yeah, hybrid gamer, beat it )

Have loved the settings ever since, very interested in the lore, canon and such. Im also the one who see FTactics as CANON.
Yes the midwestern Brotherhood branch. The odd thing about that game was the use of ca modern weapons.
I always saw a potential that they can squeeze in an explanation that it was a hidden cache of these weapons and gear made just before the nukes went haywire OR made recently post apocalypse but very lmited to that area. Dont quote me on all lore and canon, Im a bit rusty. Still. Im a MW Brotherhood guy :P

Now enough with backstory. And onwards to the first rumors of the new Fallout. I got exited
As with alot of fans, I speculated and hoped it would be a new singel player Fallout.

Nope.. Kinda lost interest there sooo, yeah. It seemed Bethesda just spat and retconned parts of the lore and canon too, I just... WHY?? Power armor this early after the nukes, just to trademark it and lure in new players at the cost of lore??

NOT acceptable and I saw Bethesda too afraid and underestimating the fanbase knowing it would be a Falloutgame even without canon crushing "retcons". Yeah I havent touched Fallout 76, I might dig into it later but still, have they backed of spitting on the lore or/ and have they given an explanation?

Feel free to fill me in..

Fast forward through the muck and stain with Fallout 76.

Nice that they are trying to right the wrongs with wastelanders, still I scratch my head..

Why are Bethesda so lacking principles and respect for the fanbase?
Why and how could they have screwed up so royally in the promotion and way they handle "LivE SuRVIces! "

The pre order bags
The Nuka cola bottles
The outright deception and lies on the promotinal reveal stage with Todd himself
The faulty updates, patches, "fixes"
The CORPORATE greed shining through.

Im sorry but a serious publisher/ developer JUST dont do such things! NOT professional.
Im all for people trying to redeem themself, ONE chance. If not, its not to be bothered with.

Yeah, bugs and glitches, even disasterous ones have been a running hilarity regarding Bethesda ( Skyrim was a treasure trove, giant space smashing and backward flying dragons? pure GOLD )

I have been following both the Elder Scrolls and Fallot for many years. And I thought Bethesda had the experience, the wisdom and knowledge how to treat the fanbase and communicate and be transparent. But seems that was my blinded, loyal view in the most recent years.

Only explanation I have is, what the corporate change of leadership at Zenimax? Hard financial times? And Todd had to be a bluffer to save his job and such? Yeah, its costly to hold on principles. But in the long run that for the betterment of all things even if it hurts. Not to excuse him or the other responsible for the mess Fallout 76 have been.

Now I dont blame the employees, the workers of developement, not sure if they have been under too mutch crunch time. But they better be treated well, get well paid and have a safety net at their workplace.
Samrt financial moves to secure the company is fine..

BUT unchecked, ultracapitalistic, ravenous corporate greed and sleazy suits at the top who dont care/ give a flying F about the passion of games as an art, a mediaform and have their brains replaced by a bunch of gold, WONT secure a grand future for neither the ones they loom over, like the fanbase, developers or even the employess at the publisher themself.

Its just disgusting.

I say all this because I have an interest in Fallout but I will still put it on the interest backburner until some serious apologies and transparency occurs. And if the next Fallout, Elder Scroll games are going to harken back to a Bethesda we could trust more and know more. THEN I might smell opportunities of interest again.

But for now, I cant see myself playing F76, cnat really recommend it either and maybe just go on a nostalgia trip with thy olden games for now.

But for those that enjoy F76. By all means, just keep in mind the unexcusable dirt what have been done and never forget and never forgive. Because theres is a difference between BLIND loyality and an reasonable loyality.

If you want a good story, go play a Telltale game. Sounds like you would be happier reading a book.

Morrowind had the best story and much of the dialogue and lore is like reading a book. But now Bethesda's games are drastically dumbed down.

It's sad.
Yeah. :(

See though, what you perceive to be canon doesn't matter, you're not the one deciding what is or what isn't canon.

There is a lot of retconning and inconsistencies, but I suppose it's inevitable.

Yeah, well the creators decide. But even under the old devs. Its been vague regrding the Midwestern Chapter. Its partly canon and not. As I see it as the chapter itself and certain other things are, but the tech they have in regards to what was avaiable in the first games are not, or at least nto given a clear explanation. Somewhat apocryphal.

Well if those who handle a franchise give maximum effort of taking care of what they have and make everything click, step by step regarding lore and canon. No franchise would have this headache to make sense of it, so to speak. And theres this artistic interpretation that can make a mess of things also, but thats a can of bogus I wont open.

Also, I wont derail this thread more than alredy. My apologies.

Yeah its important to see different perspectives before judgement.

Time will show how it will go.
