Player Vending Advice
I recently began playing again and never took advantage of the player vending system. So I have no idea what common things sell for such as bullets, chems, or junk. I know legendaries can vary quite a bit depending on the effects. What's a good forum or website to go to for selling guidelines?

Those machines aint there to put a bunch of crap in there with over valued pricetags just to make your numbers look good on the map.

1. Try to have a bit of each group.
When people view vending machine stats they are going to look at those who have a variety if they want to spend money.

2. Sort your machines
Put Aid stuff in one machine, Weapons in one, Armor in one, Misc stuff in another.

3. Do not clog your machine with trash plans
Mole Miner Gauntlets, Buzzblades, Ultracite armor, jet packs, etc Those plans are literally someone's trash you should have gotten the hint before posting 10 of them in your machine.

Rue of thumb is if you got more than 3 of a plan then it aint rare (unless it is a rare like Fixer Plan) and most people already have it. Far better to throw it away and put something else in that slot to sell.

4. Restock/Reserves
After you figure out what sells try to keep some of those items stockpiled and not in the machine so you can restock it to follow #1. For example, I have found if I put 80 cans of Dog Food in my machine someone will come along and buy the whole stack. However if I put 50 cans in then I can restock the other 30 from the stash to keep the categories looking good. Ammo is the same way.

5. Pricing
The normal items is fairly easy like I can sell most prewar foods at their default cap values that show. Dog Food I go higher with. Easiest way to tell is if people are buying your whole stack then you can probably get away with raising prices.

6. Immediate sales versus eventual sales.
There are some items out there that sell real well constantly and some items that sell well eventually. For example ammo like .308, 5.56, and 45 sell constantly, ammo like shotgun shells, fusion cells, and plasma cartridges are eventual sales, which means someone will come along eventually and probably buy your entire stack. Food items like nuka colas, salt, pepper, spices fall into those eventual sales.

7. Do not try selling armor
Armor sales are @#$% and have been ♥♥♥♥ ever since Secret Service Armor came out. On top of that the only armors that may sell are the unyielding pieces. You are just wasting stash space in my opinion.

- Dont try to sell common plans. People who open gifts in great quantities left tons of plans on trading posts. Some traders think its a good idea to put those on sale. No. Less common plans are more demanding, and limited time event plans can be sold for some good caps.
For now you can farm Treasure Hunter plans and outfits.
Loot from Treasure Hunter 1 (May) is common since tons of pails was duped. Current one is less common.
- Junk sells good if you're not too greedy. You can sell only packed junk, and NPC gives you >< this much. I mean, few caps for 10 junk (+plastic to make a package) is nothing. You can ez x10 this value and sell at vending machine. Its not just about craft or repairs, people on last days of sub likes to fill Scrapbox as much as possible. Keep under NPC prices, and you're good.
- Junk legendaries sells well for 50-100-200 caps. You will get more than from selling those to NPCs, people will get fast certs if they're lazy. But dont count on those.
- Legendaries with 3 good stars sells no matter price. If i see something i like, there's no difference between 2k and 20k. For now i'm looking for anti-armor ultracite gatling with 2 more good stars (no explosive tho, i pew-pew laser), piercing lever rifle and pircing gatling. Since i complerted Vanguard armor set, not interested in mine bloody weapons anymore.
- Same for armor. 3 good stars sells. People like Unyielding, but not everyone play on low hp. Bolstering and Vanguard for tanks, Livesaving for cheat gun users (explosive overdamage weapon in close range means insta suicide; so lifesaving is... lifesaving O_o), and few more.
- Rare loot from Daily Ops sells as well, especially BoS masks and outfits since people may break those as junk while clearing inventories, and rare drop is avaliable only once per day.
- Selling water, food and aids is optional. I always purchace exp soup from event and dog food since its good with perk. Stims and chems sales depends on prices.

I'll add another thing. There's a tool that you can use to help price your legendaries here: https://fed76.info/pricing/

Unfortunately what you need to keep in mind is that, while the site will tell you that something is worth X amount of caps, that doesn't mean people will actually buy it for that much, unless it's something really rare or powerful like a Bloodied Explosive Handmade Rifle or something like that. It seems more useful if you're trying to trade with somebody rather than sticking it in a vendor, but it does give you SOME idea of what you can sell your stuff for if you're willing to wait long enough.

Bored Peon makes some good comments.

I wish to add: price of ammo has plummeted since we have Daily Ops. I don't bother selling it even more. Only maybe some ultracite, plasma or 0.50 can find a buyer if you have patience.

Tip of the month: unless you *know* that something is godly, it is not worth as much as you think.

Only put up weapons that are godly or close to godly, don't bother with anything less. They will just end up eating inventory space for weeks.

Plans? Downprice them if you want to sell, the standard price that the game prompts when you enter plans in the machine is usually too high. Except for the ultra-rare stuff, range the price between 50 and 500 caps.

Magazines and bobbleheads sell to powergamers and to collectors if you wait long enough. 50 to 100 is a good price for them, it depends a bit how eager you are to sell. Since they have a low weight, there is no harm if it takes weeks to find a buyer. All SPECIAL bobbleheads (luck, agility, ...) are worth more than regular ones. Leader and Intelligence (both for extra XP) easily sell over 200.

(Disclaimer: above is true because there are not a lot of people still selling magazines and bobbleheads. If this post results in all buyers puting up those items again, then the price will drop and you can just as well don't bother.)

Junk does not sell.
Components on the other hand do: adhessive, screws, steel, lead sell - you know, the stuff you constantly run out of. Occassionally rubber, ballistic fiber, aluminum, acid, springs and fiber.

Stable flux also sells, feel free to price it high if you got plenty (450-500 caps). Except for cobalt: cobalt sells instantly even if priced 1000 or more.

Food: once in a while someone buys this (especially when a "eat pre-war food" daily objective comes up) but it is not worth a lot. Dog food on the other hand has some hardcore fans. Don't expect daily sales though.

Chems: the med-aids are almost worthless, don't bother with Stimpaks, Radaways, ... Only put of the mind altering drugs and price them low.

Nuke-Cola: I never had much luck with them. I have huge stacks of Quantum and Cranberry at 40 and never sold one single bottle. And they weigh a ton so you want to get rid of them fast. Remember: all but those 2 Nuka's can be bought from Bubbles so don't go expecting sales of Orange, Dark, ...

Same for alcohol: the price you get from them is not worth the place they take in your inventory. Alcohol is relatively heavy in weight.

For laughs, I also had bottles of Nukashine for 1 each in the machine. Never sold any. You'll have more fun drinking them. (The joke is: they were actually free, because drinking them returns 1 cap.)
