Selling junk vs selling components
Seems it is better to sell all junk directly than to scrap it and then sell components.

So, is scrapping only for convenience?

Scrap and sell bulk is the way I go. If I run out of script to exchange I sell the Legendary stuff. Besides bulk scrap I sell extra food and drugs. I never have trouble maxing out every day I play.

Time wise, you make more money via scrap and bulk than to drag the much heavier junk to a vendor.
Scrapping is for convenience when hauling it. A desk fan's weight is 2.5 lb while the components you get from it weigh .18 lb. Plus bulked scrap is worth more. A bulk copper(10 pieces) gets you 21 caps at 1 lb. along with 10 circuits is 10 caps at 1 lb. and 10 fiberglass is 20 caps at .5 lb. while 10 telephones will net you 30 caps at 20 lbs. So scrap at 51 caps for 2.5 lb. is better than 30 caps at 20 lbs..

Also, lets you be more choosy in what you are selling. You can, for instance, keep the screws and bulk and sell the steel from a Desk Fan instead of selling every component in the Fan.
you must put in extra plastic for bulking, but when super duper kicks in you get more to sell.
