Fallout 1st, worth it?
So I haven't played the game in a long while, and I was one of the oddballs that actually enjoyed the game on release. I didn't play a ton, but for what I did play I enjoyed. The storage was always an issue, going on quests to see cleaned out areas due to players was a bummer, doing some of the events with random way over-powered characters took the fun away.

So plain question... If I were to start playing again, and devote more time to the game, would Fallout 1st be worth while? I would primarily be playing solo, maybe every once a while I could drag a friend in. Thanks for any advice provided.

For me mule account is best for storage, since the scrapbox can only store scrap. Stuff that takes up space is usually the good weapons and armors you find.

With enough time invested it is likely worth it just to avoid the hassel of storing junk in your stash. Thats what I use it for. But I only buy it every now and then. Not using it as a permanent subscription. The survival tent has its uses for quikcly unloading junk or cooking some food if you want.

The private server is nice for farming. Down the road you'll need various items that only drops in nuke zones and on a private server you can nuke morgantown or the golf club and have all the mobs to yourself. Once you finsh a pass log off for a minute then back in and they respawn.

In the grand scheme of things its a rip off and a hallmark of toxic game design tough.

Oh speaking of mule accounts. The private server stays up for 5 minuts. So if you are mostly a solo player and want to do mules you can drop stuff outside valut 76 then log off and switch toon. Its not risk free because if the server dies for some reason you'll loose the stuff.

I had it for 2 months and just farmed all the time with certain events that needs a party , although I play like over 40 hours a week and my 1st storage was full with around 1.5k of everything and over 10k of acid, cloth, lead and over 17k steel. I use ultracite ammo now so I only farm in nuke zones now.

I wont get it again as I have enough in storage to build, craft anything I EVER want. The survival tent is not really missed as when you join a group of 4 at least 2 of them have them and you can use them for FREE map movement etc.

The game wasn't whole when it came out but because it had such a following people have spent so much money on it. It really isn't polished and to put money into 1st so you can grind more is just a waste of your time and money. There should be more enjoyment than just collecting guns and building a half arse base. It COULD be worth it for you but by continuing to support these practices we will never see the golden era of gaming again.

No is my personal answer. You don't need all the junk in the world to just keep you going. Now, if you plan on doing many different builds or want to build houses or sth else that requires you have unlimited storage or for free fast travel with the survival tent or that you really want the scrap box utility that i'm sure you've heard of, then i reccomend you F1st.

It is one of the most expensive game subscriptions I have ever seen.

You know most game subscriptions are $15 a month for an MMO right?

F2P ones sure. But you still buy the base game for this... And Elder Scrolls Online. Its brother has a much cheaper subscription, cheaper base game, 20 times more content and better performance plus less bugs.

Fallout 76 is asking for a premium price when it as a product is anything but premium.

My Netflix subscription is also cheaper. Netflix has a lot more content and value.

Very true. In total I have bought Fallout 1st twice. It is a major convinience but for what it gives you expensive.

Only reason I have been willing to use it twice is that until CoD, Assasins's Creed Valhalla and Cyberpunk 77 is out I was not really playing anything else. And with the current human malware situation a lot of money have been saved not going out.

This was my first ever Fallout and it will be my last. Unless they launch the next one and it does not contain toxic game design like the stash limit which is then sold as a solution in first. Edit: And all the annoying limits on scrip per day, caps per day, caps in total, scrip in total.

The tent and the scrapbox should be baseline stuff you have.

So while I have bought it twice a my honest assesment is that it is not worth it.

If you don't have FO 4, get it. Much better than this 76 garbage. I'm playing it instead. Also getting ready for another play-thru of FO Vegas.

And I hope to god they don't turn the next elder scrolls into a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like 76.

I would also have to say it's not worth it. I finally cancelled Fallout 1st, after months of playing my time had been reduced to just doing the daily chores. I had a moment of clarity and realized how weird it is to pay 15 euros to play half an hour each day that's not even fun. The monthly rewards have been total crap like icons and floor or wall patterns. The one redeeming factor is the scrap box, but only if you play for hours every day.

I may subscribe again if they improve, but the only way we can make Bethesda listen is with our wallets, they don't care about our voices.

Myself I would like the Fallout 1st "sometimes" but I feel there are more reasons not to. The bottom line - I find I can manage my inventory by getting rid of useless things, farm what I need by server hoping when needed (very seldom). So there is really nothing of value for me to pay $10 a month. If I really really want a Fallout experience solo there is always FO4.

If you play a lot then absolutely, it's not like the price is huge. Can't imagine living without scrap box and tent now and atoms are a bonus on top of it.

@OP

If you are going to actively play 76 everyday and don't want to worry about where to put junk, then absolutely. Survival tent is nice as a teleport point but the scrap box is essential imho. The free 1st items that come out sporadically are OK, and the atom stipend each month is not that bad either. Just my 2c.

Since you are coming back after being gone for awhile I'd play the game a bit, regain your bearings, and see if you want to dedicate some time to the game again. Wastelanders changed the game a lot from where it was super early on and its a decent amount of content you can work through.
