Because I just tried clearing the Steam cache and it did not fix this issue that started couple of days ago.
I also reinstalled and reset the default settings.
The game TRIES to run.. sometimes even gets as far as the season main menu background video while loading starts... and then just crashes.
As if the game is desperatly trying to start or load something and fails.
Before the game could sometimes lockup on trying to load the atomic shop on start (probably connection to server issues), but that would only cause the game to freeze and a game restart usualy fixed it.
Now the game just outright crashes way before then.
No error. No nothing. Just oop and off
I do mean the PC, because there are other factors that could be at large than just Steam.
It's not unhealthy to reboot. There's a definite kernel of truth in "turn it off/back on again".
If rebooting is somehow a problem because of a network, or something -- you probably shouldn't be playing videogames on the admin box in the first place.! ;)
With that said, this sounds like it's something on the Bethesda side from the varied & recent complaints. This could be exacerbated by Steam's latest action against Win7 users on Jan1, where they modified the client into orchestrated obsolescence for the OS.
FO76 still runs fine for them.
It would be good to know if users not also using Steam are being subjected to problems.
There are a lot of factors to consider.
Cleared steam cache and rebooted PC: Steam Fallout 76 still crashes on start
Changed download server from Helsinki to Berlin: Steam Fallout 76 still crashes on start
Played Mutant Year Zero online stalker trial, got 1 star in the Grog Den again, angry because I cant unlock any more maps: Steam Fallout 76 still crashes on start
Usually have to do that if I installed windows recently, because steam don't update directx for fallout 76.
Could also be other programs causing it to close down like riva tuner or msi afterburner.
Fallout76.exe kills itself after a few seconds.
There's a record in events viewer :
Nom de l'application défaillante : Fallout76.exe, version : 1.7.8.10, horodatage : 0x657241f6
Nom du module défaillant : Fallout76.exe, version : 1.7.8.10, horodatage : 0x657241f6

There's already some feedbacks on insider hub.
We only have to wait for the next update. It's been said in the last 2 changelogs that theses build could potentially break some games.
That's the price to pay as insider user. If you want it to work it right now, there's one solution for now : use a windows public/stable build and not an alpha/beta one.
i'm not blaming any1, i'm also an insider build user ;)
