So wait...
Just wanted to ask:
This game (...'76) is a intended a single-player with a multiplayer option, or the other way around ?
When I saw Fallout 1st Store page - it sorta spurred all these question about Fallout76.
Also - if I'm endeavoring to play a solo install of this, am I playing on a live server?
It appears rather ambiguous a this point.

Most thankful.
God Bless you.
Merry Christmas & Happy Hanukkah
Have a safe and happy New Year yo!

It is "Multiplayer" if you are a standard member but you can pretty much walk around and ignore others if you choose. PvP is optional except for workshops. Fallout 1st is premium subscription giving you various perks and Atoms to spend each month. One of the 1st perks is the private server. You are playing the game with the entire world on a private server so you can solo the entire thing or invite friends.

Thank you So much for this quick info sandrastarling. Way cool.
One question about:
" PvP is optional except for workshops."
Workshops? You mean I can just play - someplace where there's live pvp and somehow I'm untouchable? I hardcored that hole player on player bit for long enough - lol
I am No authority, believe you me.
Wurm Unlimited gives me a Server all my own. What's unique is that Wurm Unlimited is playable on player made/provided servers upon install, + there's an .exe for that private server thing too. Different genre I realize but mechanically it comes to mind. They don't charge extra to the additional executable however.
Thank you again )
People have been asking Betathesda for a Co-op Fallout experience for some time; however, Instead of Betathesda doing that, they decided to make a half arsed MMO.

You can play 76 as a single player game for the most part but, if you want a truly singleplayer experience, you have to subscribe to Fallout 1st and make use of Private servers.

Between deliberately making the game tedious, and having trash public servers, people are often tempted to subscribe to Fallout 1st.

Workshops are things on the map you can "capture" and then mine resources/craft things at them. But if you take over a workshop another player can take it from you, so you either have to let them take it or fight to defend it, this is not an option you can avoid unless you play on a private server where there are no other players to try and take it from you.

and if I remember correctly if you try to take over a workshop from another player it will auto flag you for PvP, but i could be wrong here.

Just a quick note here. PVP WILL be automatically enabled when you reach level 5, you will need to turn it off in your settings.

Wrong. It used to turn pacifist off when you reached level 5. That has not been the case for several years now.
