Female dresses tend to look better than the same outfit on men
Females get more sparkly clothing

Males get more rough and tumble outfits, but they look virtually identical on women

basically it comes down to the eternal dress vs tux vs bathrobe debate

Depends on the outfit. Showing skin, the males look better. They just look more muscular and capable, while the female survivors kinda lack any muscle tone or curves and appear kina mannequin-like. But once you start trying on the full outfits, they tend to look better on female characters. Sadly, many outfits are quite ugly or cartoonish ..so most PC's just look more at home at a carnival.

Definitely male. Females in the cruel post postapocalyptic world full of bandits and various monsters where raw strength is much needed would't fare well on their own.

They'd do fine. Small, agile, with better vision, and smarter than most men when it comes to survival. Men that get into physical conflicts involving raw strength are morons, and the smart ones watch the two dumbasses go at it and finish off the winner.

Honestly overall the clothes are trash for the female characters most of the clothing design just suit the male characters better. But the clothes that are obviously tailored for female characters does look good though.

Character models are alright for both sexes managed to create some good looking ones, the default presets are in uncanny valley though but that's been always the case for a Fallout game.
