anyone else having an issue where they start the game and it freezes?

i have tried playing this game many times in the past couple days and it has only worked one time. it also worked the day i bought it. when i start the game, it freezes on the loading screen or the screen where it signs in. after that, i cant access task manager or anything at all and i have to hard reset my computer. why did it work before but not now?

First press ctrl+alt+del and open your task manager, click "options" and make sure "always on top" is selected, this way you don't need to reset your computer if the game freezes. If the freeze happens after you click sign in try waiting that the background animation changes from flag to vault flyby before clicking anything.

Click the "Task Manager" first, "Options" is in Task Manager window.

i still dont see it, but waiting for the flag animation seemed to have worked for the moment

Yes, waiting usually helps. That task manager thing isn't a fix, it's just a Windows tip so that you can always access task manager if anything freezes full screen and don't need to hard reset your computer.
EDIT. I use Win10, I'm guessing you have Win11 and apparently it has different task manager so don't know where the "always on top"-option is.

I always had this issue aswell, but I forget where but I read a tip to give the game a few seconds to run the menu animation before clicking into the menu.
I have never had an issue with loading up after starting to do so.

Yea, this has been happening for me since the Pitt update, the only fix is to use the task manager to force close it, it'll run fine every second time though. It's weird, and with how regular it is, you would think it'd be fairly easy to track and fix, but I guess the dev team just can't be bothered. It is Bugthesda I guess, lol.

I'm on Windows 10 and I have a similar phenomena where the first time I open the game it locks at the Signing In part and Task Manager is useless. It opens all right but actually toggling to it to do anything doesn't work - it sits there in the background which is somewhat counterproductive to the function.

I will try the waiting thing but we'll see.

Sometimes still happens to me.
It will likely annoy you at some point in the future when you try to hop in too fast.

*Windows users, if the CAD doesn't work for you just sign out and sign back in, it'll kill 76 and allow you to restart slightly faster. Works fine for all Steam-hosted titles I know of.
