Door problem

I'm at the start of the game and I can't find out how to open the door out of your room, when I press E on it it just makes a sound and doesn't do anything. Do I need to do something else? I already grabbed the Pipboy and all and I have the quest to exit vault 76. Any help?

Well, you should be allowed to open it, the game only forces grabbing the Pipboy

You could try relogging, if the problem persist most probably you need to create a new character, at least you only loose the character customization.

*However, you may give it a chance to repair/check cache of the game (properties) As long as I know the beggining is mostly a solo-instanced area so a server problem (when receiving the quest when updating the "get the pipboy" objective gets met) makes me believe that is not the problem... It is always better to give it a chance.
