Anyone use Strangler Heart Power Armor?
From the specs it seems to be the best balanced with a set bonus? Anyone actually use it? Just curious.

Ultracite mods.

If those words scare you... Run!

I use Strangler Heart PA but its basically a PvP armour set

poison/acid damage is WAY to low to be effective against PvE enemies

VS players you can use peppershakers to get ~450 damage per shot of damage that forces players to have to counter with a legendary perk card or specific armour

Union PA is the best defensive due to its poison resist ability... if I was remaking my assassins armour I would do union but I'm not dropping another 50,000+ modules on a new set

Mooman, can you please elaborate about what you mean by this?

I use Union now, but notice that I completely melt when hit by Energy Weapons (Test Your Metal). Union seems to have a pretty low EW resist so I am thinking of switching. Thanks for your help, it was insightful.

if you get above 300 you start to get massive diminishing returns

your getting hurt by energy because enemy energy weapon users have bugged calculations and do absurd damage at the moment

Strangler Heart is a vine infested Ultracite suit and uses Ultracite mods. Plans are only from player trade or SBQ fights (ridiculously low odds on some).

I got the plans from Reg in Vault 79. Are you talking about other plans? (Sorry to be so dense here)

Edit: OK, wait. Maybe I get you now. The Mods for the Strangler Heart PA are Ultracite Mods and very difficult to get. Is that correct?

I have a decent fully rolled legendary set on my main who thankfully after over 4k hours in game has all the ultracite PA mods i needed. Crazy how low the drop rate still is after ultracite has long been surpassed as a top tier PA set.

I basically only use strangler heart sometimes for having a bit of fun with a pepper shaker build with the single barrel mod for the increased poison damage.

Problem is though that the enemies that are vulnerable to the poison damage are enemies that are super easy to kill anyway. The ones i want it to be effective on are too resistant and it does not do much.

Downsides are it needing entirely new plans to be bought and needing vault steel to craft each piece. So you need to keep re rolling those same pieces. You cannot scrip bad rolls to get some scrip back.

Bottom line it looks cool and is a great concept. However BGS nerfed it into oblivion and it is pretty much a slightly different ultracite PA. However needing entirely new plans bought with bullion and also vault steel to craft it makes it expensive. Nothing wrong with using it if you like it, but i really feel it is waste of time compared to union PA. +75 carry weight and +150 poison res are far more useful more of the time.

I only use Strangler Heart as a display piece, The only thing it's really good against is radiation but honestly, any PA is playable in a nuked zone.
I've played since launch, and I have never gotten Emergency Protocol or Calibrated Shocks for the Ultracite PA.

Strangler Heart uses the same mods, and since mods/legendary effects far outbalance the basic stat of an item... the Strangler Heart isn't worth it. It's been power-crept to oblivion anyway. The set bonus is absurdly useless for PvE. I've tried it, and the poison aura can't even kill a radroach.

The T-65 was better. Now Union is better, and next PA from Atlantic City will likely be better. If you want a budget armor for rad zones, the X1 is all around more practical.

No reason to waste your time with the Strangler Heart aside for the looks... Even then, there are so many power armor skins floating around, what does it matter what the basic armor looks like?
