Tracking Spotlights Problem
I currently use in my C.A.M.P tracking spotlights, linked to heavy lasers, because as such the lasers should work a lot better. Apparently there is an old problem with those things: when you fast travel, the lights go out. They still move, but they no longer emit a beam of light.

The question is whether they still 'track' and thus detect threats. Not much clear information on this can be found on the internet.

Maybe someone here knows the answer. Thanks!

I took mine down. Seems when ever I left my camp or entered my vault they would turn off, and I had to flip the switch back on all the time. Never could find anyone who could keep them on. I tried several different switches and poles and direct current- did not seem to work for me anyway.

They should still track. As far as I'm aware the light is when they 'fire' and should be out normally.

Try lure over a mob and see if they light up. Just be aware turrets need a clear 3 seconds of target lock before they fire.

Another fun fact is that demolition expert will boost workshop/camp turret damage. Though... I'm not sure if it's bugged (really should be home defence card anyway) as I've noticed in a few of my camps the turrets are really weak now.

A good idea. I have some Mothman Cultists in the area but I don't think they like to leave their porridge unattended. But I'll try it tomorrow.

I used those in my military style camp for aesthetics but had the same problem. There was one solution (not really a good one) but if you connect it to a switch, you can turn it off and on again then it will work but that's still a fart about. Wasn't worth the budget for me.

Will add this info here but it was a long time ago and many updates have come since.

The spotlights would work for me even is they were out and not lit. There still was a significant and noticeable increase in turret performance simply having the spotlights for me.

I do not really bother with turrets at all anymore so cannot say if it is still the same now.

Managed to lure 2 Mothman Cultists into my yard. Coincidentally, three molerats also spawned. The tracking spotlights just flipped on and the lasers started popping. Together with two automatic rocket launchers, the fireworks were complete and the trespassers were quickly finished (so you were right @Mooman and @IFH). Nice to see.

So even if they are not lit, the spotlights switch on when there are enemies and thus do their work properly. Cosmetically it would have been nicer if they were on all the time. But hey. They're weapons, not street lights.

Yep that was the only way I could get them to run for awhile. I got tired of flipping it on (well off-then back on).
