But the game in itself is more then that ... . It's "endless" grinding for better things and you can have up to 5 characters.
I have over 6k hours in this game and have payed 1 time for a 1 month sub to Fallout 1st to claim the goodies for a 1st ever sub.
The servers are always online, there's no offline, single-player mode. So you will run into other people. Do you have to interact with them? No. You can pretend they're NPCs and go along your merry way. The only way to avoid other people entirely is to pay for FO1st, so you can play on your own private server.
Just checked some reddit thread and it seems I can customize the hell of a private world, so I don't have to grind.
100-200 hours are not much, I can deal with that. Thanks.
Problem solved, will get this later today when I am home.
You just need the base game to play.
The Multiplayer part of this game in the Adventure Map, is ALL Players working together to complete the Event, it is not P-vs-P. It is a fun time, so join and join a team, because that will get you up to level 50 quickest, so you can use every weapon and armor.
I suggest you play free and see how far you get. If you buy after that you'll keep the same progress.
The multiplayer is the point, and the best thing about the game. Whether it is playing with friends (real life or those you meet in game), or teaming up with randos to perform a specific task.
That is the fun part.
It's likely to make you hold onto some lasting feelings of negativity toward the companies involved.
Inventory management is no problem if you don't want to try out different builds, trade, build camps, and enjoy all the other online 76 features. Just get a good gun, weight reduction for it's ammo, and some decent armor. You need nothing else to complete the story content of 76 (well, stims and some radaway). I can do it with spiked knuckles.
