I had no idea that the Mount Blair Excavator is a real thing.

I thought the designers of the game were just having some hyperbolic fun with the mining theme.

Yes they most definitely are a real thing.

My father used to do work in different mines all around Australia and surrounding countries doing NDT analysis of welds on large machines and i got to see many real life Tonka toys when i was a kid including many BWEs. Just nothing even close to the size of the one at Mt. Blair.

These were used just about in my back yard... similar to the one portrayed in the game. Enjoy :)

Keep exploring!!!! Your going to find out that nearly almost all of this is based off of real life places in West Virginia. Pumpkin House, Camden Park, & White Springs Resort just to name a few are real life places

The actual size of those things doesn't really show in most pics. Here's Bagger 288: https://www.autobody-review.com/images/groups/0/1000x600/CGwVOhS8ePSyNIB7yE72.jpg

My first thought was "There's no way they're that big or It's got to be just the one.."
Then I noticed the smaller crane on top of the excavator and see the tiny lil car as the camera pans past.

I have questions on the production of the wheel itself (the enormous, single piece of metal that makes up the central disk of the excavator arm) but I believe that will likely replace any free gaming time I have today with hours of wikipedia reading... Seeing is believing, anyway.

Nice post Nord :ama: :VLOVEIT:

Yeah, it's a bit bigger, didn't remember its number so quickly googled 288. I'm actually not sure if that pic I posted is from 288 or 293, but it's one of the best pics that give some scale how massive those are.

Fire it up and get some resources.

Why are we afraid of nukes when we can remove entire mountains? Fallout 76, the ecological disaster game.

I really love those machine. I noticed they had a few of the large dump trucks in the game, but nothing like the trex titan
