Thats were i get put all the time .
I’ve had instances where the spawn location seemed “set”, and then I built something and it changed.
Yes I have had the same many times. Fast travel spot was seemingly fixed and then i moved or built something extra and the FT spot moved even without touching the camp device.
I wish you could just place the fast travel spot as a constructable object.
You’re not the only one. I get it’s not precise to cut down on trap camps getting you at a spawn point. But heck, let me set my own spawn like I can at an owned workshop.
in fact you can't even change where people spawn in your camp at all but you can change the direction they are facing when spawning in your camp.
also the camp owner's spawn isn't always the same spot as for all other visitors.
* though i moved my camp unit around a few times in the past and i felt like it changed the spawn location but I'm not interested in wasting time testing.
this video explains it all:

fun fact 1:
it was pointed out to me that in times long gone there was a fast travel target in camps but people obviously used it for traps. so smart bethesda just removed it instead of fixing the actual problem.
just give the fast travel target a keep out zone 5 meters in all directions and it's done. no more easy trapping. c'mon bethesda, it's no f#cking rocket science!
and there are still trap camps in the game so it didn't even help that much.
fun fact 2:
in your workshops you can actually still place your own fast travel target. guess what? that's right! it's a copy of the fallout 4 fast travel welcome floor mat.
