How to place a CAMP properly to get a wanted fast travel point?
spawning between rocks every time after fast travelling will start to annoy you after a while

in fact you can't even change where people spawn in your camp at all but you can change the direction they are facing when spawning in your camp.
also the camp owner's spawn isn't always the same spot as for all other visitors.

* though i moved my camp unit around a few times in the past and i felt like it changed the spawn location but I'm not interested in wasting time testing.

fun fact 1:
it was pointed out to me that in times long gone there was a fast travel target in camps but people obviously used it for traps. so smart bethesda just removed it instead of fixing the actual problem.
just give the fast travel target a keep out zone 5 meters in all directions and it's done. no more easy trapping. c'mon bethesda, it's no f#cking rocket science!
and there are still trap camps in the game so it didn't even help that much.

fun fact 2:
in your workshops you can actually still place your own fast travel target. guess what? that's right! it's a copy of the fallout 4 fast travel welcome floor mat.

Go to camp build mode and move your camp device. The spawn point is something like 20 meters from the device but can't remember which direction, maybe north-northwest.

Move your camp three feet in the direction you want to spawn from where you have. Not sure if your spawn point is based on where the CAMP item itself placed, whether the direction it's facing plays a part but you should try and please get back to me; I'm curious how it works since the Camera Build mode implementation. Your spawn point is either based on the cell you're loading into or the camp objects yourself; it used to be the camp item over cell as you could adjust it's placement within the camp to adjust your spawn point without moving the entire camp.

The spawn point can be changed by moving the camp device inside building area. Rotating device doesn't affect it, the point is fixed about 20 meters away from the device. Just can't remember which direction it was but it's pretty quick and easy to test.

Nice. :) Fast travel to your camp few times to make sure it works and tweak more if necessary. Spawn points can glitch a bit and you occasionally spawn in different spot than usual no matter how you place your device, especially when you login to server. On few of my camps I sometimes spawn under them far away from the normal spot. :P

There is a video in youtube from a girl telling you how the mechanic of camp module works with the teleport (you and other players) just make a search for her.

It's super unreliable, plus no guarantee that you'll spawn there. One of my camps I got a spawn point in front of the building I made with a nice view of the entire thing. You can simply walk to the front and enter. Still sometimes people who travel there end up inside the foundations of the building. for another camp of mine I cannot change the spawn location wherever I put the damn camp device. I always spawn in the middle of the house, sometimes underground. Have tried every spot in the building area to no avail.

I’ve had instances where the spawn location seemed “set”, and then I built something and it changed.

Yes I have had the same many times. Fast travel spot was seemingly fixed and then i moved or built something extra and the FT spot moved even without touching the camp device.

You’re not the only one. I get it’s not precise to cut down on trap camps getting you at a spawn point. But heck, let me set my own spawn like I can at an owned workshop.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Confirmed. Moving your little camp contraption around will move your spawn point within your camp.
