How do I refund/cancel my fallout 1st subscription for this year atm rather than as of next year?
I broke a tooth last week and it is going to cost about 2K to deal with dental bills. I don't have the ~$!00 to spare right now, but was auto-charged for it last night. I just now found the cancel subscription option here on steam, but it cancels it as of the next recurring payment next year. I need to cancel it now, and get that $100 back for the moment. I will resubscribe eventually, but I need to use my money atm for irl bill rather than game subscription.

HMMM? You could contact Steam Support but, I don't think it would do you any good. It ain't likely you can get a refund.

As far as not letting it auto renew, just go to your Steam Account and delete any credit card you have registered(Edit it). That way it can't auto renew and your sub will run out after the year is up.

You click on your name on the top right then account details and on the right side you will see manage subscription. You cancel your membership there.

Cancel when it runs out. That won't get him a refund.

This can be found on the Steam Refund Page:

RENEWABLE SUBSCRIPTIONS
For some content and services, Steam offers periodic (e.g. monthly, yearly) access that you pay for on a recurring basis. If a renewable subscription has not been used during the current billing cycle, you may request a refund within 48 hours of the initial purchase or within 48 hours of any automatic renewal. Content is considered used if any games within the subscription have been played during the current billing cycle or if any benefits or discounts included with the subscription have been used, consumed, modified or transferred.

Please note that you can cancel an active subscription at any time by going to your account details. Once cancelled, your subscription will no longer automatically renew but you will retain access to the content and benefits of the subscription through the end of your current billing cycle.

Additional information can be found here: https://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds

From how that section reads, it seems you may be unable to get a refund on the Subscription unless you have purchased the Fallout 1st Subscription within the last 48 AND have NOT launched the game. I would still recommend submitting a support ticket and explaining your situation via Steam or directly to Bethesda and see what happens. The worst they can do is refuse a refund so it's worth giving it a go.

My mistake I read it wrong. I was thinking either or but to get a refund the person would have to contact support. Even with that there still is no guarantee to get a refund it might be dependent on when the person paid for Fallout 1st and if it had already been used.

I found out about it only yesterday, and steam says it was the 18th. I haven't gone into the game but I did open the launcher to see if there was a discontinue option there. I called steam yesterday at the numbers on my statement, then did the things today, but haven't been able to reach bethesda in and of themselves or heard anything back from steam. Hopefully it's just because of the weekend.
If they charged you a day ahead of said date and you have not USED first since you will be refunded.
