If it has a health bar.
Yes.
Refrigerator in your camp helps.
The perk card, "Good with Salt".
Helps alot.
Cooking food will extend it's life...

Some ingredients don't spoil - salt, pepper, spices. Even though you have to cook sugar from snaptail reeds, once it's cooked into sugar it stays good forever.

Spoilage rates vary by food. If you're worried you can use "Good with Salt" perk (under Luck) or a backpack mod to make food you carry spoil more slowly. Sometimes the atom shop has a cooler you can buy for your camp that you can store food at 50% spoilage rate.

"Steeped" foods/drinks seem to be less perishable as well as offering longer duration effects. Just Google "fo76 steeped" and there is a Reddit link to a Google doc with spoilage rates from last year.

If you want all terrain food non-perishable i recommend repeat quests from tadpole, they will give you an special meat, fills ok and wont be never bad.

"good with salt" at max level is far better than the fridge

To give some actual numbers, raw brahmin spoils in 90 minutes. Cook it into a ribeye steak, it instead lasts 288 minutes (a little under 5 hours). With a maxed out Good with Salt, those numbers are multiplied by 10. So raw it lasts 900 minutes (15 hours) and cooked 2880 minutes (2 full days).

A wild blackberry lasts 90 minutes raw. Juice it at a cooking bench of some type and that becomes 374 minutes.

In other words, cook your food to make it last longer. I believe the condition bar of the cooked food is full once made regardless of the condition of the raw food, so you can hold off until right before the raw stuff spoils for the longest total duration. If you have the perk points for it and you want the food buffs, get Good with Salt on top for an even longer duration.

Does this consistently persist into the next-day cycle? Or do timers on food expire when logged out?!

No, your countdown timers pause when you are not in a server.

The canned meat stew you get from feed the people is arguably the best food in the game because it doesn't spoil, and it gives you an XP bonus(2x as long as cranberry cobbler), As well as just being good for food and water.

Sometimes you'll find them in vendors because low levels will sell them after the event, so that's a good opportunity to get a bunch.

Should be a way to freeze dry stuff.
