Now the other method, if you go up north and grab the alien blaster from it's assigned spawn point, you can then keep and mod that with plans from other players. you just will not be able to craft a new gun.

The Alien Blaster Plan Can be traded, you just won't see many out there. The plan will only be rewarded until you activate one, then you won't ever get it as a reward again. When Invaders from Beyond first released I waited til the event's run was over before activating any of the Plans. I ended up with several Blaster plans that I gave away long ago.
