How much FOMO is there?
I bought this game, but i'm considering refunding it with 0 minutes of playtime, after doing some searches, seems like the game is heavily built around FOMO with each season, but i'd rather hear out the opinions of players.

I feel no FOMO whatsoever while playing FO76. When i'm not playing the game, I don't care about anything I miss out on. It's the same for other games.

My ability to even experience FOMO was burned out of me almost completely, by playing another game... warframe. Talk about FOMO, that game is the king of FOMO. There are things in that game that were offered once and never again, and the rest may be vaulted (not obtainable) for years and years.

I laugh in the face of other games attempting even slightly to instill the same fear! Amatuers!

I have to say though, regarding FOMO: Bethesda can be nice.
I once saved up Atoms (don't want to spend real money) for the hot tub only to find out it vanished out of the shop once I had them. I wrote the support. Explained my situation. They gave it to me.
Now I am proud hot tub owner.

And on a side note, even if you miss certain events, many of these special cosmetics etc can be sold. So you might find them in the vendors of other players.

How odd. I've been playing Warframe for 3 years now and the only thing you cannot obtain is Excalibur Prime. Everything else you can always obtain. The only thing to note is that you need to be patient since some things are only available during a specific time frame. I like Warframe because of that. Nothing is truly missable. You just can't get everything today. But that's part of their live service game.

I like the chill aspect of this game, but I think over time it became chill too much... To the point where everything is so easy, with no challenge whatsoever, that I feel sometimes like a pensioner in a nursing home who plays bingo. That's the best way I would describe current state of the F76.

Yep, the only thing you can’t get is Excalibur and that’s because the prime variant was a backer award. They worked around that with umbra though

Is there any content that works as a “ gear check?” Like even giving old time players a run for their money

They introduced a few events like Eviction Notice where enemies have extra armor. Generally there's 3 world boss events that require multiple people to complete, but possibly soloable if you've built very specifically. Although I've never heard of anyone doing that, I believe it is possible. Recent update included an overhaul of some of the older events to make enemies tougher. Where your damage output is basically cut by 4-5x. Then there's expeditions and daily operations with tougher enemies. Definitely not for a new player.

Game has a lot of FOMO. Like a lot a lot. Like almost every one of those kind of game.
If youre susceptible to it you might not want to put your time into this one.

Thx guys, today I learned a new word... :VBCOOL:
Smurff-a-thon2k Mar 28, 2023 @ 4:10am
You can pay $10 on sale and get around probably 300 hours of playtime completely ignoring the season stuff, alone or with friends. The FOMO is on your own willpower alone.

lol

there are times when its fun and challenging. mutation events sometimes did that.
but i like how its chilled then its exciting. the chill, exciting, chill, repeat rinse repeat rinse.

the chill parts i like for when i like to build a nice camp.

Edit - i dont play alot of multiplayer, but when i play dead by daylight (mulitplayer) there's cosmetics you can't get for a long time when you buy the rift, (10 euros and you get your money back via funds in the game that you buy cosmetics for, its the same concept here in fallout 76) so we dont see the cosmetics until maybe 2 years later if they decide to have it available to buy.
that game is also very popular.

i see why they do this, because if everyone got everything all at once, you can't obtain or want things because its all there anyway. Its just something to look forward to when it comes along.

You mean the same hot tub that comes into the store almost each week?

I mean.
I'm skipping this season's board cause I don't like it. There are only a couple things I can't get later (the board itself, a very nice trophy) and this season's I won't miss. In the past there have been maybe a maximum of five things I can no longer get that I wanted. That's out of hundreds if not thousands of shop items. So it's there sort of? But like they mentioned earlier it's really player-side. Most objects pop back up in the Atom Shop within a year's time.

There's nothing so vital since it's all mainly aesthetic and some utility, so fear of missing out is purely on your fashion sense.

If you're into mothman/cryptid stuff then this board is great, if not then yea not for you maybe.

Item's from scoreboards never "pop" back in item shop.
