Newbee question about hunger and thirst
So, I tried to find the answer here and on google. It's not exactly very clear. So can we die if we eat nothing or/and if we never drink too ?

No. If the bars are empty, nothing happens to you. Instead, as you fill up the bars you get bonuses. Filling the food bar grants a bonus to your maximum hit points, Strength, and disease resistance. The water bar grants a bonus to action point regeneration, Endurance, and also disease resistance. At one time, you apparently could die if the bar was depleted, but that was removed.

And speaking of bonuses, make sure to sleep in a bed for about 30 seconds to get a boost to experience point gain, and play a musical instrument for the same period of time to get an action point regeneration boost.

It's very easy to get into trouble early game when you do not have the resources, plans or know-how of where to go and to get food.
My sister has this predicament, she never has any radaway so she always is stuck at around 15 hp.

and when I finally do help her and get rid of her ailments, she goes and does it again.
Yea I think people forget how it was when first starting out.

On the up side she might end up with some good mutations for free playing like that. If you want I can give you a couple hundred stims and radaway that you can pass on to her to help her out.

I was saving them to pass to my new characters on my 2nd account on MS store but I cannot access that account anymore so have no need for them.

Nah, she is on PS4; and she does not understand the game that much, she just likes building.

ok, so still about thirst and hunger. How can I find enough non rad food and water ? Because the big problem is that there are many things that poison me with rad that I don't want to add more with food and drinks.
Rejuvenate and Lead Belly in Endurance can help you with all rad problems.

Cook your food. Cooking removes most of the rads. For example most meats give 15 rads when raw and 5 after being cooked or used in a recipe. I don't bother running perks for taking less rads or anything because it is a pain to have to swap them in and out all the time when i am not eating and they are useless. Radaway becomes so plentiful that taking rads from eating is a non issue later on. Except for a bloodied build ofc.

Many players camps will have the decon shower which you can walk through to remove your rads. I have a few of my main camps on different characters near the wayward with a decon shower to help out newer players. The brahmin at the wayward and flatwoods can give milk which will remove a small amount of rads.

Honestly on all my new characters now after the hunger and thirst changes I don't bother eating until I am much higher level and i have tons of radaways. Only things i will eat when I am low level and trying to level past Lv 50 quickly are intelligence or xp boosting foods. I wait until i am higher level before running all my food buffs.

Brahmin milk removes rads. There are also several locations around the map as well as many player camps will have Decon Showers that remove all rads.

Ah, Newbies and being afraid of rads. Then they learn of low health builds...

Rads from food isn't too much and should take a lot of eating to make a noticeable difference. Keep playing quests/events/scoreboards/daily freebies and the game will throw so much rad away you end up throwing it away.
In the beginning of FO76 i did care of food and drinks, but after a few years i don't care any more. It's has no negative effects when your food and drink bars are at zero. Only craft food / drinks that gives me extra Intellect read XP.

When you carry a lot of food and drinks it will cost you your weight unless you use special perk(s) which is in my personal opinion just a waste.

So don't worry about your food and thirst bars / meters it won't affect your game play at all.

Have fun my friend ;)

Thanks a lot everybody. About endurance I know, but for now I prefer to spend my points elsewhere, I boost first intelligence at max, then I'll focus on perception I guess.
Thanks for the tip about brahmin's milk. And of course I cook the food, but every ressources is a problem at beginning, even wood ! :D And of course no caps to buy anything.
I know about rads builds, but I'm so far from that, only started the game last sunday. And I can't play a lot because I have to take care about my wife and daughters.
Thanks again for everything, one last thing is that I can't play with a mic because when I play it's quietly to not disturb all my girls at home, I hope for other people in the game that it's not a problem if I join a group one day.

And can't build or repair a weapon for example because I lack of screws, so I'm screwed ? ;-)
And I search where to sell/exchange my legendaries.... I sold many at the begining, newbee mistake.

Grab and scrap all junk and you will get screws.

Garbage legendary machines are scripped (exchanged) at the Lego machine that is at every train station, Whitespring Mall, NWoT, and The Rusty Pick. Scrip can then be used at the Purveyor to buy things.

I scrap a lot. But no luck. And I can^t mark screw in my search like I did with aluminium.

Tagging for search only works if you have none of the object in your inventory or stash at all, a little backwards.

You sure? I think the only requirement is that you have a piece of junk in your inventory that has the component you need. So a desk fan for instance. Then check the components and then add a search tag. I dont think it works withbrojen down components, only junk. But could be wrong. Dont mark stuff often. Just once then never again.
