I've been thinking of going back to my gauss shotgun and mini...now,for sure I'm gonna switch back.especially now that I'm currently a bloodied built.(was high health).
By the way...nice video!
Edit: I will need to try the pistol one too.
But you don't gain just a bit due to the high number of enemies in Expeditions. With good sniping that can one-shot most enemies, you can gain 1000 rounds of ammo or more, as I have done. That's not easy to pass up. Good sniping guns can be: plasma caster (plasma), gauss rifle and pistol (2mm EC), combat rifle or The Fixer (.45), sniper rifle or hunting rifle (.308), alien disintegrator with high-power receiver (AB ammo), and maybe others too. So you can farm a variety of ammo, and their ultracite versions too. Because of this, I hardly have to craft any ammo nowadays.
Expeditions also give you XP and rare plans.
If you enjoy using the shotty and enjoy expeditions then for sure it's a good method to hit two birds with one stone. But just for getting the ammo it's not efficient. Crafting ammo is way faster. I personally don't like using the shotty, nor doing expeditions.
Pleasant Valley has many can chimes. Nuka World and Sunday Brothers Cabin have ball toss games with cans. Sons of Dane Compound has shooting range. Many locations have (tin) cans scattered around. Mole Miners have them often as loot.
While collecting the (tin) cans at many of those locations keep an eye out for green containers (ammo cases, duffle bags etc.) and loot with scrounger perk for contextual ammo.
After awhile it'll become second nature to prioritise those precious (tin) cans and you'll be familiar with their spawn locations around the world. Only issue is you'll end up with more lead than needed but a scrap of all the Miniguns at an Eviction Notice will right the balance (or other sources of steel).
It's just the 2mm then haha, I know they're super easy to craft, and that's my main way to get them, just hoped they were easier to grind haha
If you go into a Daily OP with a Gauss Rifle or a Gauss Shotgun you will use maybe 40-50 rounds. However you get like 2-12 per mob and the end boss gives like 50, and the completion reward gives like 400 ammo. So you end up gaining like 800-1200 per completed Daily OP.
If you have Fallout 1st ammo box it gets even easier to store 1000s of excess ammo.
steel + lead.
equip Excavator PA and search for steel and lead.
most of them are found near HORNWRIGHT TESTING SITE 4.
i did this just 1 hour ago it took me around 5min of searching and i found 242 iron ore and 150 lead ore.
and of course use perks with double/triple/quad quantity of ammo created
