Best way to farm 2mm and plasma cartridges?
Got a great Gauss minigun the other day that made me wanna use it more, but it eats ammo.
Tried it in dailyOP but left with less ammo than I entered with
It's easy enough to craft but I use lead and steel for other things, so if there's a better way to farm ammo, would anyone be kind enough to share?

Same goes for plasma cartridges, I got a plasma caster that I wanna try using more, but only got about 300 ammo atm

Buy ammo from vendors or use the ammo station to change ammo into something else. Expeditions drop a lot. Fight blood eagles which use plasma weapons. Hop vendors and buy bulk lead and copper for the plasma cartridges. Move your camp to a copper or lead deposit and plop a extractor on it-them. Use the ammo perk that increases ammo crafted for same amount of resources.

So basically crafting? Aight, thank you :lunar2019piginablanket:

I had this problem, I just use the gauss minigun as a secondary weapon most of the time now because its so ammo hungry.
A tip for resources is to find some places with ore deposits, the small ones, not the big ones, and just go there every time you play. Lode baring event (i think its called) is good, always lots of lead and copper in the mines there.
I also tend to purchase bulk lead/copper from npc vendors now and again when I have the spare caps, remember to put the bargain perk card and boost charisma for best prices.

I got a like crafting/vendorhopping build that is basically for just that
Im like, Im not new to the game but I've spent more time using my gatling gun and hopping to events than actually crafting really
So when it comes to things like this Im clueless haha

While on the topic, is it worth it using a gatling plasma/laser as a main? Are cores easy or hard to farm?
Only downside I see now is the weight and that niether can be stored in the ammo locker
Im currently using a prime gatling gun and 5mm is easy to farm, just getting bored of it because of how slow it is haha

Use the Gauss Shotgun in Ops and Expeditions, you will get back more than you use. Also use Gauss Mini as a secondary, use something else as a main. Only whip out the Gauss Mini when you want to peacock.

I'll have to pick up the shotty then, hoing Minerva got the plans for cheap so I can save on some gold
Should I go for a shotty build or can I use it with my other builds? How's the damage without the perks?

My tip is if you don't wanna mess with making ammo and funkin' with ammo make a shotgun build. You won't be top boi - but it's fun to mess around with.

I love my shotgun.

Don't even bother switching from Heavy Build, just half-ass it through Ops and you'll do fine with the Gauss Shotgun. Just play corners and charge it, will still deal decent damage.

Where does one acquire the guass shotgun plans? Is it from foundation once ally or do we have to get lucky with minerva?

Get ultracite ammo, you get more ammo with crafting. Also have ammosmith, super duper perk, and ammo factory legendary perk. You can also like 1000 rounds in a daily ops, if you are good at controlling bursts with a bloodied gauss minigun.

Bloodied gauss minigun is my favorite weapon, but I don't use it all the time. I switch between different weapons, because using it all the time will deplete the ammo.

Farm the bodies in the pit and daily ops.

Plasma cartridges: https://falloutmod.fandom.com/wiki/ArmCo_ammunition_construction_appliance

Collectron to collect junck/scrape/ammo.

The rest,people have already mentioned.

Daily ops ammo drop is very little for guns that have high fire rate. 2mm ammo is easy to make as it only requires steel and lead. Both are easy to get. If you want to get the most out of it use ammo factory legendary perk and normal ammo crafting perk.

The best way to farm is in the From Ashes to Fire expedition because it doesn't have a mini-boss at the end that eats your ammo like in Daily Ops or the Union Dues expedition.

(EDIT: I was wrong; From Ashes to Fire does have mini-boss type enemies: Fanatic Harrowers and Foreman. But they are weaker than the usual mini-bosses.)

Below is me farming 2mm EC in From Ashes to Fire. My Two-Shot gauss pistol can one-shot most Fanatics, and each of them drops 4 to 16 rounds back to me, and there are about 100 enemies in an Expedition, maybe more. So you do the math. The ammo gain can be tremendous. I've crafted 2mm only once in the lifetime of my character. All extra ammo has been gained from Expeditions and Daily Ops.

Of course, you need a non-auto, sniper type of gun that doesn't fire too many rounds. Enemies only drop 4-16 rounds, averaging about 6. If you waste 6 rounds per enemy or more, you likely lose ammo or have minimal gain. The only good sniper guns for 2mm are gauss rifle and pistol. I chose pistol for the bigger magazine.

Dont like having to use a different gun in those situations just to get a bit if ammo i can craft in a few seconds. Its a method you can use. But I personally wouldn't use it.
