Few questions before considering purchase. (solo/online/freedom)
I've read that the game can be done 'solo' but can you play offline? I don't want human interfering in Fallout experience, nor do I want to be used as a lab rat and have Bethesda 'track all my actions'. The most important question is do you have complete freedom in the game? I played this game at launch and there were certain characters that you could not kill. I immediately uninstalled the game from Gamepass and denounced it as heresy. Has this been fixed?
I still play FO3/NV with my 'own rules'. I.e. killing all characters with a certain head model (just to keep things fresh), or going full scorched earth. I can't imagine playing FO3 and thinking what IF I could kill Three Dog, thankfully I could find out what happens.

No, there is no offline mode, but you can play in your own private server if you pay for a Fallout 1st sub.

"Essential" characters can't be killed

Solo? Sure. you can play by yourself.

Offline? No, this is an online multiplayer game. You load into a world with a max of 24 other players. You can however purchase Fallout 1st subscription and get a private world for 15 euro a month among other benefits.

Freedom? Yea you can do whatever you want. It's an open world game much like the single player installments. You can't kill NPC's though unless it's a story related option. This is an online game.

Sounds horrible. MMO are the worst games to spend money one. It tells me there will be a point where The servers inevitably go off-line and I will never be able to play the game again.
I'll just wait for the next fallout and pretend this one doesn't exist.

Your choice. For me it's not about owning a game, but playing and enjoying it. That is relative to the money I'm willing to spend on it. Whether or not the game is available in 20 years is irrelevant.

You've got a long wait ahead of you. Last I heard it would be 2029 until the next Fallout game.

How can I enjoy it if I can't play it past it's due date. I have over 2000 games on my account with 3 purchased at launch. If I wanted games to disappear and only the latest games to appear I'd buy a subscription to PlayStation or Xbox.

Hopefully they have a more competent project lead by then.

why would bethesda track you, if this game is already considered abandoned by 99% of players
but considered abandoned doesn't mean the players stopped playing
it's a passion thing
one of those rare situations where the fans of the franchise keep coming back spouting negativity on here about whatever double bug combo drops after fixing 1 bug

they care
it's def PTSD on another gaming level

you don't see that type of melancholy on other game fora
pubg, rust, h1z1 whatever
(tho my random first spawned char in rust was a black man... i'm sorry but i refused the gift of pants and stole and rode a white stallion in the middle of the night only to be catapulted on the beach breaking my neck, floppy ding-along physics accompanying, suave jacket/bare butt-cheeks floating upwards, hoping a romantic rust-couple proposing irl that moment as roleplay )

complete freedom...
you chose who you like to play with or go solo
play like f3/nv/4
perfectly possible

certain npc's can't be killed
it's an online coop
you can't just decide to kill a quest giver and F it for someone else

Considering a main aspect of the game just bugged out leaving players with no objectives in its department and no daily rewards accordingly, I'd say keep walking. A lot of it's FOMO-driven, too. I got it in a huge sale following a free weekend. If you do get it, expect way more bugs than usual. Like, even for Bethesda.

How can you enjoy life knowing you may drop dead tomorrow?

Sooner or later everyones tomorrow comes. Your tomorrow could be today-or the next.
