Can’t we have Anti Material Rifle in this game???
I am growing my sub as a sniper and very disappointed with the guns I can use for it. Apparently, sniper rifle based on hunting rifle is the only one rifle has concept of pure sniper gun and it is absolutely a piece of rubbish after reached to certain levels. So I am using Lever action rifles and Gauss rifle at the moment and those two are so frustrating since lever action isn’t powerful enough (also doesn’t look like a sniper rifle) and Gauss rifle has lots of delaying or shot skipping bugs while using VATS and charging also it’s one of the ugliest gun in FO76 IMO.

Now I totally understand why the rifle build guys mostly go automatic or pick Heavy armed Big PA commandos.

Please consider to add some better weapons for Snipers like Anti Material Rifle which was already on New Vegas or FO4 user mod. I was surprised when I’m back to FO76 from long break that this game got silly Thirst zapper while there is no major improvements of something more important like ‘Nice&Cool Sniper Rifles’

Probably, with the right legendary attributes and an optimized Rifleman build, the .50 Cal can do alot of damage.

But yeah, Automatic is the way to go all around, for now ... .

You may want to try "The Fixer". It doesn't look like an Anti Material, but it is a good sniper rifle with the right build(Perk Card loadout) and the Legendary prefixes/attributes that work best for your play style.

Edit; It uses the same mods as the Combat rifle does.

Thanks for the comment. My sub is using AA/25%FR/crab fixer for clearing small areas and rolling the spare fixer to get bloodied or quad but still, it gets better DPS when it used as automatic anyway since it is not the pure sniper rifle. When I use my primary character, there’s so many choices while it’s on PA heavy weapons build same as Automatic Rifle build which was its previous build, but there is very few choices for snipers like my sub. You know the point what I am talking about. I know there are some alternatives for snipers, but rather go to other builds than using alternatives which don’t really feel like a sniper.
Gauss makes a good sniper rifle

Thanks Nyota. It is a good sniper rifle with decent damages but not one of the preferred weapons overall. While the other guys are grinding enemies with powerful Gatling guns, 50cal machine guns, flame thrower or the fixer full automatic, Snipers are struggling on Gauss rifle’s VETS shot skipping/delaying bugs and reloading whole time.. can’t resist to change it to the Fixer at the end. TBH I’ve barely seen anyone else using Gauss rifle except myself. Also the delay-shoot pattern is weird for a sniper gun since it is way more fun if I could shoot and kill then loading by shoot-delay sequence for weak ones.

We don't need new weapons but to have the .50 receivers for the hunting rifle buffed beyond just a 20% increase.

Problem with this game is ammo means nothing. All stats are from the base weapon +- mod effects. The ammo used is nothing more than a counter, there are no stats associated with it.

If ammo type mattered and each had a template that adjusted the stats (it can be done in game easily) then currently available weapons would have unique feels or combat niche.

Chance of such a thing happening? Slim to none.
Vegas took place a lot later than 76.
A lot of those things that the devs have included from other games were created later according to lore.
As for anti matter rifles? Bud if you can accomplish controlling a mostly hypothetical substance that only exists in labs to craft it into a bullet... But how do you make more ammo later? You'd need specialized work benches/camps/labs/factories just to produce it..

Anti-Material Rifle not Anti-Matter Rifle, Anti-Material Rifles exist, like the Barrett M82 .50, the Anti-Material Rifle from NV is just a Hécate II which is a real gun from France, the NCR Had some on the West-Coast meaning the US Probably had some from France, so having some in Appalachia isn't unrealistic
I used the .50 hunting for a while but I couldn't stand the reload animation in or out of vats.

Only small guns I use now is the .556 Handmade and the .45 The Fixer and rarely the railway just for the bleep of it.

I thought having AMR in this game could be a fun, fan friendly twist which can complete the Veteran Ranger outfit, and it could boost up a bit frustrated sniper build guys. I (personally) believe the reason why people don’t want to play sniper over Full automatic rifleman or heavy guns is just being a sniper in FO76 is not very tempting than the other types due to the lack of killer weapons for them. skill cards are fine, but I still think there is no awesome sniper weapons can main until like lv +few hundreds or over. That’s why I thought AMR could give snipers a bit more merits to pick it and maybe make a little improvement of diversity like other fallout franchises. But literally it is just my opinion and thanks for the feedbacks. 😀 Thanks again guys, and have great days in Appalachia. 🤘🏼

I've always thought there should have been some sort of single shot/semi-auto rifle that fell under Heavy Guns. Something that isn't an automatic weapon, or an explosive weapon. An actual weapon, not some modified naval cannon or harpoon gun. Someone should have been developing a hard hitting weapon to pick off enemy soldiers in power armor.

Plasma Caster? I think the role you want is the Auto Grenade Launcher. It is effectively an auto cannon.

The plasma caster sort of fits, so Fallout 76 has an option (not a rifle, though). This is something I've wanted since Fallout 3 however. And no, the auto grenade launcher doesn't work. Its both automatic (granted, a slower automatic) and explosive. I want a rifle. Something that shoots large chunks of dense metal at a target. Something along the lines of an Anzio 20mm anti-material rifle. (Though most 20mm rounds are somewhat explosive, there are nonexplosive ones as well.) A sniper rifle that would require power armor to use effectively.
