After 99 hours, I finally got Fallout 1st!
Damn you Todd! I just couldn't take the pain any longer!!!

Anyway, as much I prefer playing by myself/solo and having more freedom to choose how the experience is, I think I'll stick to mainly Public worlds. Private will be handy for some things I'm sure.

About custom worlds... I'm probably going to make it an RP/Exploration/Easy mode.

Power Armor Drain - Very Slow
Jump AP cost - Zero
Fast Travel - Free
Map Locations - All Discovered
Carry Weight Multiplier - Nuclear (Max 999)
C.A.M.P Radius - Very High
Free Building - On
Free Workbench Crafting - On
C.A.M.P Placement - All locations allowed
C.A.M.P Height/Budget - Nuclear/Very High
Relaxed Building Restrictions - On
Equipment Durability - Invincible
AP Cost - Zero
PvP Rules - Never
Difficulty - Easy
Damage Received - Very Low
Damage Dealt High

I'm not sure about perks, maybe just leave default?
And unlimited ammo would make it too easy which it already is lol.

Thoughts?

I probably won't play for long on it if at all.

Another question. If I were to gather/create a little group of friendly people that can join me in this world, would they only be able to do so if I were on? Or can they hop in/out when they please? Also would anyone here even be interested? *cricket noises*

Just remember that custom worlds is just for the fun of it - nothing you do (except most dailies / weeklies) carries over to the regular game.

Private is great for farming materials, outside of general cooldowns of course.
So if you just farmed the fire station for the weights, you can't server hop to private and expect them to be there.

But the point is that generally speaking, no other player can get at them so if you are eligible for the material spawn, they will spawn.

Also you can exchange items between your characters via private (look it up though, it's still a bit of a gamble - I never lost my stuff even when the game crashed, others have been more unlucky).

You would have to be in game for your friends to keep using it. It won't persist if you log out and you can't "loan" it out to friends either.

The primary use for a modified server would be to enable combat related settings and quickly blow through tasks that give you score points. After that is done, it's largely for fooling around.

After all the things you listed I don't think having unlimited ammo is going to tip the scales.

Yeah I read some things about it. Sounds very useful.

What are the weights for? I saw them a few times but just sold them to the vendor bot for some extra caps like all the other junk in that place - couldn't keep my Stash below 1000 with all the junk I already had. I'm guessing lead for making ammo?

So am I like the only who would use a weaker weapon just because it looks nice? If we're talking about for the fun of it! It looks kinda funky using a repeater rifle in PA lol! :steamhappy:

PS. Oh oh oh amazing idea for custom worlds.

We could have half players as BoS and half as Enclave with C.A.M.P bases and massive PvP battles from time to time AND nuke each other. Maybe. But mainly for RP/fun. :cozybethesda:

Weights are scrapped for lead.

I guess the game assumes all weight lifting equipment comes from China, or similar, and they all have lead mixed in.

Weights=Lead for ammo crafting.
But I was talking generally about material farming, same deal for almost everything.

Need to kill snallygasters for a daily or want to farm them for the acid, but all you find are dead ones? Go private world.
Need plants for drug crafting, but all nodes are always empty? Visit the same spot in private.
And so on.

There's a general limit to what you personally can farm, and you need to wait after that - it's a bit of a mystery how exactly that works, I've seen maths explaining it, but it seems to boil down to

"Farm a certain material for X amount = you won't get more of that resource for 20(?) hours or so, even when you go to a 'pristine' private world where the thing should be spawned."

And yeah custom / private have another severe limitation that will put a snag into whatever you are planning with others: 8 players max on both as opposed to 24 in regular adventure mode.

Edited for clarity

Darn, I knew it! There goes my vision of 24 vs 24 epic scale battles. :steamsad:

Game is base on the 50's and 60's assumption of what life would be in the future. Back then everything had lead in it..Only Toys for children from china has lead in them as up to 2010 when They recalled 90% of Christmas toys. Half of US still has lead pipes for water. I have some weights that are lead filled (pellets). Some old red barn paint still in my Shed. Used to eat the lead paint chips off the walls in the 50's...so that's my brain problem i guess.

Don't take this the wrong way but that explains a lot, actually.

Like how certain other people around here clearly licked the urinary cakes for years before someone told them "You shouldn't eat something just because it has 'cake' in the name", only they won't admit it.
