Audio bugging out

Im not sure whats going on but the audio is bugging out for me. i checked volume levels in game and there all maxed but i cant hear the radio gun shots and other sounds. ive uninstalled and reinstalled twice now to no avail checked my drivers and there up to date as well

I know its an old post, but what worked for me was closing Steelseries Sonar, soon as I did this all my sounds came back on Fallout 76

did you ever figure this out? I installed the game today and I've tried virtually EVERYTHING. As soon as the bethesda logo goes away I lose audio. I only hear the crackling sounds at the very start.

I was able to fix my audio in the game by opening sound control panel > right click the "unit" you use ingame (for me it was my headset - arctis 7) > properties > advanced > changed standard format to 1channel, 16bit, 48000hz (dvd-quality)

Haven't played in years, good to see this game still blows and they're still selling fallout first after lying and saying they were unable to allow increased stash space.

uninstalling and refunding jesus I did what everyone said and still nothing. Rediculious this has not been fixed

Yep, this was the problem for me as well. Solution is pretty simple, Go to windows settings >System>Sound>Volume Mixer. Open the game, and change the audio output from the steel series sonar channel to your headset (In my case it was Arctis 7+). Then restart the game, and audio should be working normally.

Late for the party but decided to give my 2 cents since i was facing the same issue.
In my case i had to turn on Sonar to be able to have sound through the headphones. Double checked the sound format, in Windows settings, and only two options were available. It was automatically selected to 8 channel, 24bit, 96000Hz. The other option is the same but Studio Quality. Tried that one just in case but it seems that the game doesn't like it.

The game was just perfect a day ago and now the audio makes a "hisss" noise after the Bethesda intro and I've got no menu music and, in the game, the sound lacks of many of it's frequencies. Can't hear steps, shots, but conversation is OK. ONLY IN FO76 I'm having this issue. My devices are in default mode. Don't know what else to do

Wish they would fix their sound issues. The sound is fine until I load into the world. Once I load into the world, sound is gone. Only fix I've found so far is restarting the computer.

I am having the exact same issue. Seems like it started up shortly after the last update. Have tried all the above suggestions and no luck. One thing I noticed is if I go to the in game settings under audio and change the Voice Chat Mode (None, Auto, Area, Team) the sound would return for a couple seconds each time I changed the Voice Chat Mode but then go silent again (all sound except for NPC's talking). I finally left Voice Chat Mode set to "none", closed the game, restarted the game....and now I have sound again. BUT....I have to leave Voice Chat Mode set to none or the sound turns off. I guess it's a good fix if you don't care about voice chat?

This is a Bethesda game after all. The game is just buggy like every game they ever ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ make and the sound breaks now and then. Game restart fixes it.
