Game freezes when a keyboard key is pressed continually [Solved]
Hi, I'm having a peculiar problem, and I wanted to know if someone ever had the same (and incidentally, if someone has a fix for it). After 2 or 3 minutes in the game, it starts stuttering when I move, until it just freezes. Then when I release the movement key I was using, the game comes back to life. I've tried everything, caping framerate, deactivating last 4 virtual cpu's, going low graphical settings... I tried to use auto-move when it starts freezing, and auto-move works perfectly, no freeze at all, so that made me think it's the fact that I keep pressing a key on the keyboard. And it is, I tried with every other keys, and it's the same : if I keep a key pressed, the game freezes. I tried with another keyboard and it does the same.
Is this happening to anyone else ?

Edit : I'll add some hardware specs, might help :
Rig is running an i7-7700K, 64Gb DDR4, RTX 3070Ti, Corsair K70 Keyboard, Razer Mamba mouse, all drivers and 3rd party softwares are up to date.

2 days ago it happened on both of my computers when I was playing. Had to log both out and when I got on windows I could not enter any thing in the search windows- It just started printing dddddddd on both of my computers so I turned them off and the back on and signed back on. Seems to have cleared it up- was so strange for it to happen on both computers at the same time..
Unfortunately, after many restarts, I still have the same problem.
Hard to say if that search window problem is related though.
Are you using Windows 11?
Windows 10, Sticky keys are off

Use geforce experience to optimize and launch game (if not amd card). like 90% of time game won't freeze for me.

launching through steam not only freezes me almost every attempt, but it also reduces FPS and makes game choppy.

odd fix, but it works for me. I hope it works for you too.

Yeah, I also have that happening, after some time playing, the game becomes even more laggy, especially in menus/map.
I don't have GeForce Experience installed, I avoid it every time I update drivers. Might give it a try, didn't know it could bypass steam.

Edit : GeForce Experience didn't fix the freezes. Thanks for the tip anyway, Benn.

Are you using any Razer device? Maybe razer mouse or keyboard?
Mouse is a Razer Mamba. I tried the game after killing every software/application that the game doesn't require, meaning I killed Synapse (and since the keyboard is a Corsair, I killed I-Cue as well), it didn't work. I'll try without any mouse connected.
Are you aware of any problem related to Razer hardware ? Can you be more precise ?
I'm not sure if this issue is the same that is affecting people with Windows 11 since more than one year.

1. People with Windows 11 (from the first version, more than one year) has random stuttering without any reason. CPU load up to 100% and GPU load goes down to 0%. This happen for miliseconds or seconds.
2. People reported the same issue with Windows 10 since an old Fallout 76 patch (I think that was the patch with monthman event release).
3. In my case right now the issue is still happening but much less than before.
4. Some people think this issue is related to CPU, when you have more than 4 threads. I don't know if this is true or just a placebo, but when you turn off threads to only 4, the game has less stuttering.
5. Sometimes I think this issue is an razer issue, because I have a razer mouse and keyboard. But it is just an idea without any argument...

This is one video with my experience with this stuttering thing, maybe you can compare: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hufBkUhXlWk
I insist that it is good to report this issue on the official discord, but is better if you go directly to send a ticket: help.bethesda.net because just a few players are reporting this...
I already did send a ticket, no worries. It's been escalated past the usual auto response BS.
As for the virtual cpu deactivation tweak, it's part of the first possible solutions I tried.
I can compare with your freezes shown in the video, only it happens to me after like 15-20 minutes of game and mainly while in combat (especially close range combat, this is really painful). It almost never happens during explorationwhen there are no NPC's or ennemies around.

Sometimes is better do two times ALT + TAB (to minimize and maximize fast) to continue without the stuttering... Weird.
It seems forcing the .exe to run in Admin mode solved it. Weird.
