There are perk cards that help reduce weight. Have you been building up your c.a.m.p.? Have you been upgrading your weapons and armor every 5 ( or so ) levels?
You can obtain "pocket" mods for your armor, through unlocking through scrapping armor finding/buying that mod plans. I've unlocked most of the mods for my leather armor that way.
Three of the perks I love from being a F1st sub are the 1200 stash capacity, the scrap box, and the survival tent that you can plop down when needed ( within reason ).
I also noticed that after completing the Moonshine Jamboree and PICKING UP EVERYTHING that I wind up with 100+ gulper slurry(food) and other gulper parts(junk). Eviction Notice is another event where you can accumulate a lot of weight if you collect everything.
Get the Ammo converter from Mortimer in the Crater Core for 1250 gold bullion with a Raiders reputation of Cautious. Once a week I convert my ammo. (less now that they have the ammo storage with fallout 1st)
@BlueDrop112 mentioned fallout 1st. I'd recommend this if you are going to be a serious player. Bethesda created a "weight" problem and offers the solution which you have to pay for... sounds ridiculous, but most online games have some sort of hitch that you have to pay for. (free games are the worst)
Fallout 1st costs 99$ a year, but you get 1600 ATOMS (which cost 16 UD$ alone) a month so it pretty much pays for itself.
A few days ago I got 1st. I build those two containers for ammo and junk.
Moved that stuff and went from 1100 and some to less than 300.
Now I know where the problem is and will be able to manage it better when 1st ends a few weeks.
Also look at you aid and food tab stuff can build up there.
The weight management perks only affect you characters weight and not you stash, things will still take the normal weight in your stash.
Legendary items start stacking up quickly... If you're not going to use a legendary item, or it's not something that will be good to sell in your player store, just scrap it for script.
also, I know it's hard but you need to stop just collecting everything. Only collect things you need, like weapons to scrap for unlocking mods until you have them all, mats for the ammo your using or to repair the weapons / armour your using etc.
Lastly Plans can stack up as well, If you're storing a lot of known plans in your stash, most of them weigh .25 - .50 each....
Water and food also weighs an obscene amount so if you like cooking or making medicine or chems be careful.
so...I have decided to really crack down this time...
somehow, I'm back to 900 carry weight :-)
also take the Power armor weight reduction perk, keep the power armor suits on you, the perk does not work in the storage, typically gun weight reduction does not work in storage either, you can make alot more room for junk and misc items if you keep high weight weapons an power armor on your person, i carry about 10 suits with me as well always barely under the cap for fast travel,
tossing away missles helped me drop 100's of lbs of weight
Mostly luck! Some events, if I am 'near' I can romp across the map and get there just in time to get included. When nuka-world was added, the events were pretty regular and I could take part and I had a camp nearby. However, I have been involved in just 2 mutation events so far :-(
I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and start selling stuff I want but don't need...
As for heavy ammo, I got the ammo converter. Boy....is that a fiddly thing. Either ditch 2 mini nukes or hope you find a third to convert...and all those other strange combos...
