Doesn't helped. Still crashing.
Even if i start it right after rebooting the PC without anything Running.
Killed it via Taskmanager and still he same Issue.
Even if i doesn't click to login, it crashes after serval seconds.
It's not a login issue.
What's weird is that i dowloaded the update yesterday, played and it worked fine. Today i can't even launch the game as you mention above.
Windows 10 and Windows 11. VERY Different Setups, Harddrives, Videocards.
The Problem is NOT on the Userside.
Thank you KazTM and DarkAngel124 for your posts.
LittleDog, after reading your posts it sounds like you are trying to close Windows' "explorer.exe" process. That's different than the "Process Explorer" application which is "procexp.exe".
Edit: FYI, I also had no Mods either before or after. I had also successfully logged into FO76 on Monday, so the only major change was the update released on Tuesday.
1. Removed video card drivers and all related settings
- used "Display Driver Uninstaller" from guru3d.com
- ran Windows Update to get the Microsoft driver (for me, NVIDIA)
- note: if you use DDU, be sure to not check the "disable windows driver update" option
2. Removed all mobo chipset drivers
- have AMD, so used their "amd cleanup tool" as per Bethesda support page
- again used Windows Update
3. Disabled Process Explorer (procexp64.exe)
- tested with and without, when procexp was running, game crashed
- had this starting with Windows, closing it the game still crashed, disabled it from startup and reboot without
4. Other stuff that didn't work by itself, but I did it anyway, so listing it here
- backup and deleted the game *.ini files and let the game recreate vanilla on launch
- usual verify game files through Steam
The standby screen is a bit jerky on start, but I've been able to launch multiple times without CTD. Login is hit/miss, but does log me in after the second try or so. Not played further than that so far.
Hope this helps other players =)
Thx, But this shouldn't be needed to get it running.
Especially if it works before just perfect.
Don't know what Bethesda ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up in the game to cause such a weird behaviour.
I'm having this issue as well.
That's just a big damn joke there... lol
Noone of them actually read my answers and everyone is telling the same useless crap.
ahahaha
Don't have Process Explorer. Bother.
I also asked my boyfriend to boot up his PC and see what happened for him since I know that not everyone is having this issue, but his is hard crashing on startup as well.
I'm also trolling Bethany's Discord server for updates, but so far I haven't found any suggestion there that have worked, either. I'm gonna keep plugging away, but I thought I'd drop this here just in case any of these suggestions might help someone else.
If all solution they gave you wont work, and still want to play, why dont you try an standard procedure, the most standard you can make.
Let me explain, modern software is usually made to take profit of modern hardware to execute your programs with the best guarantee to work, but with older software as a developer you must make compatibilities as "patches"; you can run (theoretically) the old software but maybe something didnt work as expected.
Then why dont try to have something minimal-recommended for this software (aka game)?: windows 10, with limited fps cap, lower resolution, etc and try if it works?
PS: Also, remember, there is no magic solution for all answers, and computers is a big world, the thing that brings you an error can be anything, and put that word very big in the sky, so its trial and error, all the time.
