There is, and according to the OFFICIAL patch notes for this update, it is now 32767.

They are using a signed integer in their program, that's literally the limit because of what data type they used.

signed int, -32,768 to 32,767

Highest level player I have seen was 5000+ about 5023 or something close to that.

Four different Skyrim versions, and none of them have fixed the tree in Whiterun.

Not really a faith thing, I recognized the number because I'm a programmer. Be a programmer long enough you recognize certain magical numbers.

A little side note. That is also the max HP any mob can have. It is why the nuke bosses have their damage reduction spells to give them a higher effective HP alongside the legendary mutation at 50% health.
