you'll be fine. i actually use something too because i'm hearing impaired. lost 40% of my hearing in my left ear so I often have to use software to equalize the sound.
Thank you, knowing that helps me push the paranoia down.
I remember a thread from Reddit about the game not launching if IDA is running:
https://www.reddit.com/r/fo76/comments/101b5ip/bethesda_not_every_application_that_can_hook_into/
As for my first post it was incorrect to say the game is scanning what is installed rather than what is running.
We all are, and you should really be ashamed of what you've been watching.
Just admit it.
There are many players with 1000s of hours played never getting banned. Even so I used cheat engine on a rpg maker game and forgot to turn it off when I played fallout. Didn't get banned for it. But that was like 3 years ago.
They banned players for using cheat engine in the game, even when they didn't cheat. They just used it to datamine the game for new content after a update.
If its minor they just temp ban you, but if you used it many times you get perma banned. They also don't show how they spotted the cheater.
It's happening to a lot of people?
Where?
I'm in All the big Fallout 76 groups on Twitter/Reddit/Discord and Facebook and the only people who are posting up about bans are known dupers/cheaters.
So no, It's not happening to a lot of people.
Because that's not a blatant double-standard or anything.
How do you think Anti-cheat software works?
There is no magic involved, in order to check what is running on your computer, they have to... check what is running on your computer, surprise! ;)
Of course some are more invasive than other, and don't limit themselves to just what is running but also what is installed, or even what has been downloaded recently. But even then, having CheatEngine installed won't get you in any trouble. Because the way CE works is very easy to see and block for any server-client architecture and you might use it for other legal uses.
It has been this way for at least the past 30 years, even if I do admit that it seems to happens more and more often.
Today, even Windows checks most of your files silently (even with telemetry off) , and I will not start a rant on phones either ^^
In the OP's case, I'm pretty sure that they have to at least give you a proper and precise reason for the ban, basically naming the problematic files. Anyway, not much can be done here, only their support can do anything.
But honestly, the only way they would have to be so sure is if they have found some network injection tools along with the required scripts... Sure you aren't hiding anything? ;)
I have CE installed, I use it with some old PopCap games. If it's not running while you play the game, you'll be fine. That's valid for every AC and every game out there. There is no anticheat that will ban someone for merely having software installed on their system, that's a step too far.
EULA is just legalese to cover base in case someone decides to take legal action (which is never happening, its far less of a bother and much cheaper to make another account and buy the game again anyway)
ive made this mistake at least 10 times, and im thankful for them letting me know its still on, because i really dont wanna get banned especially when the program doesnt even provide cheats for it.
that being said, on a totally different train of thought, when some anti-cheats do their job, they make note of every component in your computer. from the memory sticks, processor, gpu, motherboard, all the way to your monitor, keyboard, mouse and game controller. some of them even have a way to read the fancy chips on the expensive usb cables themselves even though no one really owns those things. if you bought a gpu from someone who had been banned from some other game, or even your monitor or mouse were used on a rig that had previously been banned, it could be flagged. im sure they have a list of these items, shared between game and platforms because thats how they make their system stronger and keep track of constant cheaters who find ways to bypass bans by simply buying all new hardware and making new accounts. these cheaters are crazy about it. and theyre cold and heartless enough to sell you their components that they know are marked and theres no laws out there that force them to disclose this so you just have to assume that all used gear especially stuff sold on ebay for a steal of a price, is probably flagged. if you use it, you'll get flack from all sorts of games. there has to be a way for consumers to cross reference their components to items know to have been used by banned players even on other games. theres probably not though. but i think i know what my next business endeavor will be.
1. dont cheat 2. always use new gear 3. stop farming in game bugs/exploits 4. never sell more than 10,000 of an item in a 30 day period in any game 5. never buy in game items from anyone outside of the game or even inside the game if it looks the slightest bit sketchy. 6. if something you do in game seems like it shouldnt be possible, it probably shouldnt. you should make youtube videos about these things and pray that some devs come along and thank you for bringing it to light because now they get to ban all the people you showed it too. 7. this is fun. games are fun. they wont let you play, then dont be you, be someone else. 8. I am so high right now
Uh, thats true they put this in the eula? because in my country law says computers and all inside of it are private info, so, they can ban me if they want but i can denounce them for a lot of money, at my view, its not worth it (the ban). Also i know my rights as a consumer and most rules of the eulas are against country laws, and most ppl thinks eulas rules prevail over laws and they dont, so if anyone got banned for this cause, check your country laws first, because in most cases you can send them to the court and win easy.
