How much powerful gauss shotgun? Is it worth to make a build?
I had a gauss pistol build. Well, it was so bad that I regretted about my wasted time to build it up.

Where they excel is with crits. Using the Four Leaf Clover perk it has a chance to fill the crit meter with every hit, shotguns have 8 'hits'. Unlike rifles that to crit as much need high luck special, normally using unyielding armour and low life.

The crits are powerful due to shotguns having a high base damage. The Gauss goes one further with an added 15% bonus explosive effect. The cadence of battle is normally 2 shot first mob, fills crit meter, 1 shot second mob, 2 shot 3rd and so on. Highly ammo efficient as you'll get back much more than you use.

They also excel at crippling with the enforcer perk. This is even more useful now 'da legacies are gone. Cripple SBQ wings, Alpha Predators in PP, Earle to stop him walking around, Boss monsters at Spin the Wheel, random Sheepsquatch etc. It is a much looked over part of their usefulness.

Here's a base shotgun build, works with Gauss too.

Gauss are fine but suffer a lot of bugs, particularly if spamming instead of charging (useful for things like Vampires effect). Plain old Combat/Double Barrel/Pump action are fine and can get the job done. All it would take is a youtuber to showcase them and they would be the next 'meta' (without requiring bugged 'Magic' damage). Another advantage of shotguns too is the Pepper Shaker (Those who know, know).

Gauss shotgun with the right legendary stars and perks can be very effective.

I love my gauss shotgun and use it in my explosives build due to gauss weapons benefiting from demo expert.

I just rolled a vampires with some nice VATS boosts and it clears em out pretty nice and a rarely need a stimpack. With the prime receiver even better.

I've had a couple nice 3-star combat shotties drop recently, a vamp and...something else, been thinking about trying out a shotgun build.

Just recently tried this....it was terrible compared to my bloodied heavy build with plasma caster. Scriped the weapon and all the shotgun perks.

Any build can be great, and I love my Two-Shot Gauss Pistol, which has never let me down in Expeditions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4EVEz0Rwl0 . It deals 400+ per-shot damage. It can shoot at a longer range than a gauss shotgun without sacrificing damage, and doesn't need to reload as often as a gauss rifle.

Gauss shotgun is decent. I have a bloodied one. Not amazing rolls but it is ok. Does close to or just over 1000 damage before other perks kick in. Like all shotguns, to get the most out of it you need to be using vats. You cannot silence it but thankfully it does one shot many regular mob enemies. Fun to use and efficient with ammo but I find myself not using it often due to all the other toys I have to play with these days.

Since the recent fix it is a much more effective weapon now. Shooting rapidly without fully charging deals much better damage than previously. So you can adjust for what enemies you are fighting. Full charge for max damage or fast shots for mobs.

As far as shotguns go this is the only one worth using in my opinion. Or the pepper shaker but that is a heavy gun / shotgun hybrid.
