Audio Glitch
When I start the game I hear audio on the loading screen then it stops at the main menu. In game I have infrequent audio such as no sound from my gun but I can hear the echo. I hear random sounds loud that aren't near me but don't hear near me. I can also hear npc's clearly. Why is this happening and how do you fix it.

'Edit'
Update for all I did find a fix that worked for me.

Open Settings

System

Sound

Then Device Properties which should be located just above the master volume bar.

Additional Device Properties which should be located on the right side.

When the little window appears go to the advanced tab.

Then under the drop down window change the option to "2 Channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)"

That was a fix that worked for me and still works to this day. Feel free to reply if you cant figure out how to do this I am happy to help.

I played since the game came out including beta testing before release. This is a know bug. If I recall it has something to do with windows operating system and the game. I am plagued by this too and recently now

This just started for me today and I've been playing for years. The sound goes out completely. I can alt-tab to youtube, hear that fine. Making the game unplayable right now. Only solution is to quit to desktop and restart.

This happens to me on both my accounts on different computers. When things start to get loud or over heated the graphic cards will cut the sound down, then it will pick it back up after a minute or two. Different computer builds. the only same thing is Nvida card in both.

Started happening for me recently as well, I have a Steelseries headset, noticed when closing the Steelseries GG program that it fixes the issue. Dunno if this is the main cause but would like to know if anyone finds a more precise fix.

For reference, my audio also completely cuts out after loading past the Bethesda logo. Only can hear SOME ambient game sounds and echoes.

Check your Anti-Virus. Kaspersky hates the audio feed for some reason. If you put Fallout76.exe in the exclusion list it will stop.

Are all of you using bluetooth headphones or headsets?

Game has has issues ever since launch with those. Unlikely they will ever be fixed 4+ years later. Some people can use them just fine but many have major issues. Game sound cutting out except for menu sounds is one of them but there are others. I stopped using my bluetooth headphones and went back to my wired Beyerdynamic TYGR 300Rs and never had another issue.

It also from my experience cannot handle you unplugging or changing anything audio wise after the game is running. Set it before you start the game and then leave it alone while you play. Unless it isn't working at all then leaving it alone is not going to do much obviously.

Not sure what you mean exactly. If your graphics card is causing your sound to cut out i would check where things have been plugged in inside your PC. That does not make any sense. Your GPU does not do anything for sound. If your PC is overheating to the point of causing your sound to cut out that is very serious.

If you are talking about the footsteps and certain gun sounds cutting out or getting really soft and then returning later, that is perfectly normal for this game. Had it happen on every single PC I have ever played the game on. Both with AMD and Intel CPU and also both Nvidia and AMD/ATI GPU as well.

I'm using the Steelseries Arctis Pros w/ GameDAC (USB plugin) and I'm having this issue. All I hear is the loading when I launch, my turrets and scavenger robot, I don't hear my guns, footsets, menu sound, ect. And then the sound is louder in my left ear than right. If I close the GG the sound comes back but it's super quiet.
