Why lvl 50, 3 star gun not even doing decent damage? Game hard tied to the perks?
Don't understand what am I doing wrong.

To the OP, you need to improve your build by learning from other players instead of complaining about it. This game is tougher than FO4 because it has to account for the *many* players who have fantastic builds. How this game is designed is essentially decided by the most "accomplished" players in this game because THEY have the biggest effect on this game, not you. Same thing happens in life: our world is affected more by the "top" 20% of the population than by the other 80%. The 20% richest, 20% smartest, etc. will always have a bigger effect on this world than the other 80%. If you are in the 80%, FIND WAYS to get into the 20% by improving yourself.

Here is how you triple the damage of The Fixer:

Level 50 The Fixer base damage: 48
Powerful automatic receiver: +6
Aristocratic legendary effect: +50% of base damage while having 29k+ caps = +24 damage
All commando perks at rank 3: +60% of base damage = +28.8
Bloody Mess perk rank 3: +15% of base damage = +7.2
Adrenal Reaction mutation at <=20% health: +50% of base damage = +24
Nerd Rage at <=20% health: +20% of base damage = +9.6

Total: 48+6+24+28.8+7.2+24+9.6 = 147.6 DAMAGE . And that is without sneak.

This gun has a fire rate of 75 (per 10 seconds), which comes to about 1K damage per second, even if you take enemies' armor into account. That is enough to kill most enemies in a second or less. This page shows enemies' hit points: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/fallout-76-enemies-all-the-monsters-you-fight-in-appalachia ; it's from a while ago so I don't know if it's still accurate. A level 68 super mutant warlord has 950 hit points, and the gun above will kill it like it's nothing. Add Tank Killer perk to ignore enemy's armor, and Concentrated Fire perk to target weak spots, and you are even more deadily.

You need the right perks on the gun, the right perk cards and the right weapons. Some guns are just, well, ♥♥♥♥.

Beside technical issues FO 76 has a lot off features: CAMP building, trading, storyline, Loctions to discover, challenges and events, you can launch a nuke etc.

If you just want to shot things you might be better off with another game, I still love Borderlands 2 but I guess there are many other titles.

25*9*11 = 2475 possible weapon effects
4*3*2 = 24 possible good rolls of combinations

24 / 2475 ... basically you will get 100 bad rolls for any one decent roll, and maybe 1000 to 1 for something considered a god roll on that weapon...

At 4 modules a pop you are looking at FOUR AND A HALF YEARS of non stop grinding to possibly craft the specific gun you desire...

Armour is far FAR worse at 5700 possible and less actual good combinations... meaning it would take some 30+ years to get AN ACCEPTABLE (not ideal) roll of a set of complete armour...

Prefix - Generally only Bloodied, Quad, Anti Armour and Vampires are actual good rolls... TwoShot is overrated most of the time

Major - Faster fire or 50% critical are the only good rolls... on RARE occasion explosive is good

Minor - 15% reload or 25% vats (sometimes... only sometimes) are actual good rolls

Basically the weapon is conditional on what type it is

Ex. Railway shines with quad because it does great damage already, explosive on railways is OP it gives the bullet a much faster travel time and hits harder than you'd think (more than the 20% anyway)
Quad Explosive Railways will one shot level 100 supermutants, having vats or reload is nice on them because of the extreme firerate they can still burn 40 rounds quick and the vats cost can't be depleted to nothing

Anti armour, Bloodied, Two shot are actually good on railways... for SPECIFIC things but generally are less than preferred.

Ex. Fixer shines with bloodied, anti armour, quad
Bloodied Faster Fire Rate Faster Reload fixer is an absolute god roll... it will be easily kitted to costing 1 ap per round so infinite vats by default, and can get down to 0.15 seconds reload time so is essentially infinite ammo anyway

Ex. Enclave Plasma Flamers shine with Vampires, Bloodied
Vampires Faster Fire rate 25% vats cost is pretty good... the gun will fire so quickly you will heal thousands of health in seconds and does so much damage by default anything aside from uber bosses will disappear into a puff of smoke instantly

Great game. Both titles were completed 100%.

Yes, I knew about tech issues of F76. I was ready. But this situation raged me. Imagine, can't kill couple mutants to advance through mission. My gun is not even ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

You know, I started to play F76 for this. I guess I don't have so much time to grind "the right gun with the right perks":steamfacepalm:

The Legendary effects of your weapon are generally the LEAST important part of your character build.

If you are struggling, a perfect weapon isn't going to solve the problem.

I understand you. I played many rpgs before. This is my 1st this type hard stuck. I just wanted to kill smth with a legendary gun, imagine! So I'm thinking why every gun must be 2x or 4x with explosive bullets to kill smb

You just explained every games end game content. You must be so damn bad :steamfacepalm: There is guides all over on what perks and builds you need, you probally got some horrible build not made that weapon or its 3 star lvl 50 but one of the worst weapons in the game lol.

I mean next you be all "why is this stock unupgraded wooden board not working with my heavy weapons cards? Its heavy weapon!"

Your perk card build as well as mutations are going to drive the bulk of your character's performance.

You aren't wrong about RNG/grind, though. There's no end to that, but that's to be expected for an MMO.

On this thread,
(X=I don't know the tier names of the commando cards there seem to be three I am working with)

QUESTION: relevant to this thread, do Commando, X Commando then XX Commando cards all stack so a possible 9 stacked bonus to damage?

I am quite senile so names of things elude me often.
