Stash Capacity? Why?!
Why is the stash only 1200. I am a super mega packrat how do I upgrade it?

Issue I've run into: I recently maxed it out...

Looking for: How to solve this.

1200 honestly is an absolute luxury. When i started playing i think it was 600 then increased to 800 and then 1200 that we have now.

There is no way to increase it, but if you get the Fallout 1st sub you get a scrapbox to store infinite junk and an ammo box to store infinite ammo which frees up space from your 1200 limit so you can store other more valuable things.

With all the perks and legendary effects to reduce weapon weight, food, drink, chems and ammo, you can carry absolutely stupid amounts of things on your person. Makes my 1200 size stash look like a joke.

How to solve it? Stop being a super mega packrat, simple.

If you're not using it, don't save it. You don't need 1k+ of most junk items. You don't need to save ammo you're not using. Don't save those trash legendaries. You don't need 100's of gunpowder in your stash or inventory, craft it when you need it, and then use it. You don't need to be saving 100's of stim or most chems in your stash...

the only other option is a Fallout 1st sub, which will give you unlimited storage for Junk items and Ammo. But you have to pay for that privilege

Solution 1:
Fallout 1st
Solution 2: Alt Characters as banks (you can have up to 5 in one account)

To remove focus on hording items, increase player interaction in trading for "valuables", and bolster an in-game economy to keep the game viable as an ongoing multiplayer platform.

400 at start
i really miss those days
(very broken, but the roughness complemented the survival aspect)

the boosts to 600 and 800 were actually understandable
it was near impossible to make friends back then
zero way of communicating really
private teams had the upper hand all over
(and i'm not saying that was bad, but if you didn't clan together outside the game via social media it was near impossible play as beth intended)

listen the only way to overcome weight is to become the weight yes you need to make food builds :)

People talk about how they managed with 600 (while ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it non-stop) but fail to mention that EVERYBODY was using that pocketed armor glitch to get basically infinite carry weight back then. LOL

Why? Because bethesda likes to remove things then make you pay for a partial fix

They LIKE to make things that shouldn't have weight take up weight just to limit the stash further (ex legendary modules) 3 to a pound and I have 1100 again... that eats up a good chunk of the stash... same with things like lunchboxes etc that are 0.1 they add up

Fo1st gives you unlimited junk which removes some of the stash issue

Sort your stash by weight and stack weight and see which ones weigh the most. Maybe only 5-10 items take up much of the weight.

Before Fallout 1st, I had to find the optimal amount of junk to be put in the stash. There are about 30 raw junk items (steel, wood, plastic, etc.). I stored 300 each of steel, wood, lead, and gunpowder, and 120 each of the other scraps. That took up about 350 weight in the stash. You need to decide what amounts are right for you. Store too much and you run out of stash space easily. Store too little and you have to grind for scraps more frequently. So you pick your poison, or join Fallout 1st.

If you join Fallout 1st, you get a "scrap box" to store an infinite (or just a very high, unknown number) amount of scrap material. During the month of subscription, you hoard scraps as much as you can so that they will last you for a long while (I ended up with 7k steel, 5k wood, etc.). Cancel when the month is up, and you will still keep the scrap box with the scraps inside. That way you alleviate much of your stash weight for as long as that hoard of scraps will last you.

If you think this is an issue then wait until you play ESO

Honestly 1200 is very manageable so long as you aren't hoarding equipment and food/chems thinking you'll use them later. Bulk your junk and either dump or sell the stuff you think you'll use but in reality it just sits in your stash for days on end. That LMG is only taking up space unless you actively use a heavy gun build, you only need enough stimpaks to resupply so get rid of the 120 you're holding onto. Cook that meat and immediately sell to NPC, favouring all that non-perishable pre-war food!

I personally don't mind simply paying the fee each month but that's just me, I tend to utilise nearly every feature it provides on a daily basis. There definitely is a way to micromanage a 1st membership without having to pay each month but that just sounds like too much effort in order to enjoy the game imo.

ESO lets you use in-game currency to increase your inventory slots, and that is what I hope Fallout 76 will eventually do. In FO76 you have to pay real-world money to get Fallout 1st to increase your stash (and only for scraps and ammo).

Or use perks. Before paying for 1st I would use my second special slot specifically for loot runs and it worked just fine. You also get one free utility item each day, weight boosters is a part of that.

Keep in mind this game follows the MMO freemium formula, you technically have everything you need to have a fun and rewarding gameplay experience even without the subscription. You just need to apply a bit of thought into what you want and don't want to be able to do in the game. If you want to hoard then focus on perk cards to reduce item weight, just keep in mind you're going to have to sacrifice points for it.

Everyone "puts thoughts" into reducing weight with perks and other methods, my friend, AND still being able to have (much) more stash space than you if they join FO1st.

Since all DLCs are free (unlike ESO), I don't mind paying for FO1st once in a while, in addition to helping out a game that isn't exactly teeming with players. I've only subscribed twice for one month each, and I'm still benefiting from the hoard of scraps that are not in my stash box.

FO1st also comes with "custom worlds" which let you give yourself infinite ammo, great for testing builds without wasting any ammo or consumables unlike in adventure mode.

Right now, the PTS is testing having gunpowder as junk. When that goes live, it will benefit scrap box owners even more.

I guess this is where console differs from pc. I play primarily on ps4 where the player base actually increased lately due to the game being free for extra/premium members, though console has more emphasis on pve over pvp to the point that it's non-existent outside of hunting the occasional player who accidentally made themselves wanted.
